Earth Day: Find an Event Near You

On Wednesday I interviewed Kathleen Rogers, president of the Earth Day Network. Here's the video; I hope it fits in my blog template!

Since Earth Day is this Sunday, April 22, I thought I'd post her advice on finding Earth Day events near you.

1.  Check earthday.org: Search for events by country, state or territory here: http://www.earthday.org/programs/find/searchevent.aspx. Rogers noted that they are adding events as fast as they can, but you might also try ...

2.  National Park Week: Earth Day is also the start of this week celebrating America's national parks. The Park Service has many Junior Ranger events, hikes and cleanups listed by state here: http://www.nps.gov/npweek/sched.htm

3.  Your Local School: Many schools have Earth Day events -- ask your children if theirs does.

I also found this site:

4.  EPA's Earth Day site: Yes, the government does acknowledge Earth Day and even lists tips and events.  Folks in Washington, DC:  EPA is sponsoring a computer-equipment recycling event on April 22.

Will you go to an Earth Day event or do something for the environment this week?  I'm considering getting through Earth Day -- or the whole weekend -- without driving anywhere. Post your ideas -- and other Earth Day events or links -- here.
