Will You Pay More to Save the Planet?
What Is It Worth to You? A story recently on CNNMoney.com discussed a recent survey that revealed that "while 43 percent of shoppers say protecting the environment is important, only 18 percent said they were willing to pay extra for an environmentally sound product." (See "Save the Planet -- Just Not on My Dime")
Do you think protecting the environment is important?
Do you pay more to buy organic food or other environmentally-friendly products?
Did you know that the services that nature provides us -- from producing food to filtering toxics out of our water and air, among other things -- amounts to $30 trillion worth?
I do pay more in some areas, because I think it IS worth it. I buy organic produce and other foods; I drive a Toyota Prius; I pay extra to get half of my home's electricity from wind power.
Post your thoughts about these questions here.

I believe that there is a huge problem with global warming. Some people want to say differently because they are in denial. They won't change their way of living and would rather ignore the issue. If it means that I will leave a better world for my great great grandchildren then yes, I'm willing to pay more for products This is the most unselfish and responsible thing to do. There will always be sceptics and people that refuse to educate themselves no matter how serious the consequences. Wake up, dreamers!!!

I say get over global whining. If Al Gore believed what he is saying he would make dramatic lifestyle changes. His actions speaks laouder than his words. He is very hypocritical
The U.N. has not been right on many things and this is another issue they are wrong on. -
How much more of this jibberish are we supposed to keep listening to? This is a bunch of propaganda put out by organizations working on "kingdom building". We simply do not have near the power of global change (positive or negative) as we think we do. The earth will continue to exist long after we are gone. Some species we have become extinct whether we would have come along or not. The entire population of the WORLD could stand in the city limits of Jackonsville, Florida with about 4-5 square feet for every man, woman and child. Are they trying to tell me in the rest of the world that there are not enough resources to supply these people. Hogwash.
Simply put, all of our vehicles and power plants GLOBALLY will not begin to amount to a hiccup compared to one NATURAL volcano eruption. When it comes to earth we have a huge ego. It reminds me of the flea on the dog thinking he has control over which direction the dog decides to go. Sorry, this simply doesn't fly.
If for some reason I am totally wrong on all points, I would love to know why American pollution is so much worse than the rest of the world and why we have to be the ones to pay for the cleanups. We manufacture far less than we ever did--that has all been outsourced to other countries. Does it really make a difference to the environment if we decide to put so many restriction on our factory here so that the company decides to go to mexico and pullute there?
Let's get real people and start using some common sense... -
what will the rest of the world pay to save the planet? what contibutions to technology, food producing, & feeding the planet will they contribute to?
We, as Americans give more to the world than any other country in history!
America defends the world, feeds the world and is constantly beaten up for the ill feeling of others that benefit from this countrys benevolence.
The rest of the world needs to wake up, quit hating us for their shortfalls and contribute instead of being critical to the country that makes it posible for them to be here on this planet!
The UN is a corupt bad joke. Can you say wake up call!
