Biographer Defends Rachel Carson

'Desire to Perpetuate Life' Was Her Biggest Legacy:  I saw this great post on Earth & Sky yesterday, by author Linda Lear, who wrote 'Witness for Nature,' a biography of Rachel Carson.

Learn points out the Carson never called for a DDT ban or said pesticides should never be used. She argued that pesticides should be used responsibly. Blaming her for the persistence of malaria, Lear says, is "a tragic misrepresentation of her book and her ideals, as well as deeply misinformed science."

Great perspective on a great writer.  Post your comments here.
