Texas Leads States in Carbon Emissions

Lone Star State Beats Out Most Countries, Too:  A June 2 article from the Associated Press analyzed the latest carbon dioxide emissions numbers by state and found that Texas emits the most ("Blame Coal: Texas Leads Carbon Emissions").

Texas "belches almost 1 1/2 trillion pounds of carbon dioxide yearly. That's more than every nation in the world except six: the United States, China, Russia, Japan, India and Germany."

The state with the highest emissions per capita is Wyoming; the state with the fewest carbon emissions per capita is Idaho, which bans coal power plants.

You can compare states on this interactive map.  Then post your comments here.
