Embedding UnCut Video in Your Journal

Here's some more red-hot tutorial action for you guys -- to follow along with the tutorial on how to add YouTube video to your Journal.

Now you can add videos from AOL's own UnCut Video to your journal. UnCut Video is AOL's own video sharing/social networking site. Among other things, it allows you to upload your videos directly from webcams and camcorders.

Have a look at Journals Editor Joe's video of the Rolling Thunder Parade on Memorial Day:

Cool, yes?

You can even embed more than one video in your posts. See, here's one from my friend Kenny. That black screen you see below is just the way the video is edited, by the way. The player should work fine.

Here's how you can embed your UnCut Video (or anyone else's for that matter) in anAOL journal entry -- it's not all that difficult. In fact, it's pretty easy:First, find the video you want (like Kenny's video). On the video's page, click the "Snag an embeddable player" link:

See, it's STILL easy!

That will take you to a window full of code that looks like this:

No worries at all

With your mouse, highlight and copy all the code inside that box.

Then, start a new journal entry in a new window. Make sure that you have "View as: HTML" selected in the editing toolbar:

View as HTML

and just paste all that code in there.

Then, write whatever else you like in the post -- tell us a little about the video. Finally, hit "save." You'll have a video embedded in your post.

For the quick-and-dirty, super-easy way to link a video, simply navigate to the video of your choice and find the "Blog This" link (note that this is NOT an embeddable player, merely a link to the video of your choice):

Click it, and a new post in your journal will open up. Within that post, you'll see a thumbnail of the video and a link to it immediately underneath. Like this:

Gay Night at the Nationals

Clicking the link or image will cause the video to open in a new window and begin playing.

Have fun with this -- it's another way to share your video with your audience, making your blog even more your own.
