Feeling Mischievous
Another Win Against the Western Conference
Bet the Golden State Warriors are sorry they got rid of Gilbert Arenas. Sure, Baron Davis is good stuff--and an All Star, just like Arenas--but time's come to definitely put Gilbert above Baron in the ranks of active point guards.
Arenas put up a mess of points against his old team the other night, shooting like a madman--but with a good field goal percentage! (The other thing that made his usually unacceptable shooting is that he also dished several assists.)
In fact, they're probably as sorry they lost Gilbert as the Lakers are for taking on Kwame and losing Caron Butler. Butler was Arenas' running mate for this game, doing it up ever so proper on both ends of the court. He's been a wonder on the offensive end since he became a starter; now he's doing the job on defense too. Talk about a great pickup!
Antawn Jamison, always gracious and eager to compliment his teammates, put it best: "I think it was his best performance so far in a Wizards uniform."
Gilbert and Caron combined for seventy-four points here. That is a killer duo performance!
Special note to Michael Ruffin, of all people, too. The guy is such a good defender. (Speaking of teams being sorry they lost somebody, betcha the Utah Jazz wish he was still in Salt Lake. They need defense desperately.)
Double-double for Antawn Jamison, of course. Maybe I should just start only mentioning it if he doesn't get it.
Final score: 129-124. Looks like a Suns-Mavs tally.
One thing: The Wizards gave up far too many points to the Warriors. Against a team like them, i.e., one that doesn't play defense for love nor money, you can get away with no defense if you can out-shoot them. Try that silliness against the Pistons or Spurs, and they'll hand you your heads as they walk out of the MCI Center.
Sidelines: Next game is
Gilbert Arenas made twenty-three free throws in this game. That beats Moses Malone's old record and is a franchise high.
It's the sixth time this season Gilbert's scored at least forty points.
