Subject: "Challenging Spirits II"

The article I wrote earlier (Right below this one) on "Challenging Spirits," certainly raised a lot of eyebrows. This morning I awoke to over a dozen emails on the subject and a telephone call :). Here is one of the emails I received on this subject I thought was worthy of publishing. It comes from one of our Associate Members Julie of NC Paranormal located at:

Here is her email to me:

Disturbing Trend

I am writing this in response to a disturbing trend toward provoking spirits, in the hopes that they will appear or make themselves known in a noticeable fashion. While this may provide for an entertaining television viewing experience, I find it most irresponsible.

( Example ) "Come on out you coward" or "What's wrong can't you do anything?" how about this one "What's the matter? You scared?" These are just examples of some I have heard and are generally used when the ghost hunter is growing frustrated because of a lack of paranormal activity.

While there are many reasons not to engage in this form of behavior I will start with the most important.

If you have been contacted by someone to investigate their home or structure then hopefully you are there first and foremost to help them. If you run through a home and try to purposely provoke a spirit in a negative way, that may get you an evp, or great photos, and if you are lucky maybe even see an apparition, but what then? You leave, go home, and the occupants of the house are left with the provoked spirit. This is not a good situation and could be disastrous.

Secondly, remember to be careful what you ask for,  you may just receive it. Even if you are not in someone else's  home, maybe you are in a cemetery, or abandoned building, you should show respect and use caution. If you try to summon a spirit in a negative way,  then you probably will get a negative response. In extreme cases you could be injured or have a spirit attach itself to someone in the group.

None of us are experts in the paranormal, there are too many variables in any given situation. We should try to remain professional, and objective and always put our goal to help others first, then move on to the collection of evidence.

Thank you Julie for taking the time to share that with us :) .
