The Adventist Way of Life

In the New Testament false religion is symbolized by the ancient city of Babylon. This was a city full of worldy entertainment, immoral sex, pagan religion, murder, drugs, worship of idols and money lovers. Wow! Sounds like America doesn’t it?

God is calling His special people out of Babylon. As Seventh Day Adventist Christians we have been proclaiming what is known as, “The Three Angels Messages“. The Christian Church has been sounding these messages for a long time. What are the three angels messages?

These messages are located in Revelation chapter 14. The first angel: “Revelation 14: 6-9–”And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach. …” Here we see that the Gospel is to be preached by God’s Remnant Church [last day church].

The next angel proclaims: “And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen……” [Revelation 14:8] This second angel’s message is magnified by Revelation ch.18…….

Revelation 18: 1-4–”I saw another angel come down from heaven…And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen. …And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people.” The angel says, “Babylon is fallen,” and urges everyone to come out of her.

Finally the third angel’s message: –”And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God.” The message warns people against worshipping the beast and his image and receiving the mark of the beast. [Revelation 14:9-12]

This section concludes by characterizing the Remnant Class with: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” [Revelation 14:12]

Our focus in this small article is on the Second Angel’s Message. This angel is concerned about followers of Christ who find themselves in a false worship system. They are commanded to “Come out…”.

The literal Jews who were once, as a nation, the “chosen people” were given this counsel;

     ”This is what the LORD says—
       your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
       “I am the LORD your God,
       who teaches you what is best for you,
       who directs you in the way you should go.

       If only you had paid attention to my commands,
       your peace would have been like a river,
       your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

       Your descendants would have been like the sand,
       your children like its numberless grains;
       their name would never be cut off
       nor destroyed from before me.”

       Leave Babylon,
       flee from the Babylonians!
       Announce this with shouts of joy
       and proclaim it.
       Send it out to the ends of the earth;
       say, “The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob.”

[Isaiah 48:17-20]

God has always made it possible for His faithful to leave false religion. Jesus taught His faithful followers  to keep free from false worship. Of God’s Son, the Bible says; “You loved righteousness, and you hated lawlessness.” [Hebrews 1:9] One of the characteristics of God’s remnant people is their love for His Law. [Revelation 14:12]

Long ago God foretold of a people that would be His “special property“, and that other people around them would certainly see that ”They will be mine,” says the LORD Almighty, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.” [Malachi 3:17,18]

Is there a “distinction” between Christians and the world? There should be! Christians will follow the Law’s that Jesus Christ taught us. They will reject this Satanic World and it’s way.

It is not enough to merely recognize the difference between God’s way and the ways of this world. True Christianity is a lifestyle! True Christianity is not mere “lip service“.  How many Christian friends [brothers & sisters] do you have? We are to associate with God’s people, His “remnant“. We are not to be “unequally yoked“.

“Therefore come out from them
      and be separate, says the Lord.
   Touch no unclean thing,
      and I will receive you.” [2 Corinthians 6:17]

Dear fellow Christians, it is by taking a firm stand for the truth that one can really make a lasting example for lost family members and friends. God firmly assures you that He will support and strengthen you if you put Him and His ways first in your life.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” [Romans 8:38,39]

Remember, we as Christians are to assemble with those who worship the Lord in Spirit and Truth, they keep His commandments, and have the faith of Jesus Christ.Will you not come out of Babylon and into God’s remnant church today?
