Rodney King's famous question "Can't we all get along?" after his
caught-on-tape ruthless beating by Los Angeles police officers
sparked devastating citywide race riots in the early 1990's. Today
those in the religious ecumenical movement voice the same question.
The answer that "The Adventist Way of Life" online ministries gives
is, "Yes. We should get along, especially as far as race is
concerned... even though religiously we may not agree." But "The
Adventist Way of Life" does not support the false unity of
the "ecumenical movement". "Ecumenical" means worldwide, universal.
The prevailing philosophy of the religious leaders of today is the
desire that all professing religions join together in unity
regardless of doctrinal integrity. It used to be just
the 'Christians' who made this call, but we now notice that the other
world religions are moving in, if not only on American soil but world
wide.
The occult movements and the "New Age" movement have been pushing for
the false "unity" of all faiths. Secret Societies play a key role in
this development. They have usually had the politically "liberal
minded" on their side. But even now the populer "moderate
conservatives" have fallen into the Babylonian trap!
It is true that Christians should accept differences of opinion
regarding "faith issues". We are not all from the same cultural
backgrounds. We have different values at some levels. Christians
should understand "why" they believe in what they believe in that
they may comprehend the important core issues of the Adventist
Christian faith.
As Adventist Christians we should strive to win others to Jesus
Christ in everything that we do. This means being very patient in
daily activities and interactions with others. The Adventist Church
is far from perfect but it should always remain united on our mission.
Healthy doctrine will unite, bad doctrine will divide. True Christian
doctrine will be founded on the Bible. Though the doctrines may not
be perfectly lived by Christians individually, they must be
proclaimed and believed in by God's grace through faith in the person
of Jesus Christ.
Adventist Christians will and do have strong convictions regarding
our historical doctrines. But if we truly believe what we believe in
this should not surprise others. This ministry, "The Adventist Way of
Life" will continue to express it's convictions. Many Christians and
non-christians may not agree. We do not have to always agree, we
would only hope that we can all accept our differences.
Accepting differences does not mean that we approve of each others
choices always but that we refrain from wrongly judging each other.
May God help us to gain understanding of each other if nothing else.
In Jesus Christ, Amen
