Who's righteousness?
Did you know that the Bible says that the minute you accept Jesus or make the claim of being a Christian that your name is recorded in the “Lamb’s book of life”?
This means that to make the claim of being a Christian is a serious matter. Why? Because during the investigative judgement if you were not a truly “born again” Christian your name will be “blotted out” of the Lamb’s book of life.
How can this be? You ask. Well, once again, it really doesn’t matter what I say or what you say regarding this or any other Biblical topic. We must rely on what God says in His word. Let’s take a look:
Jesus said to His followers; “Rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” [Luke 10:21] The apostle Paul encouraged fellow Christians; “whose names are in the book of life.” [Philipians 4:3]. Here we see that you and I have a record in heaven.
Jesus told His followers; “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” [Matthew 12:36,37]
We remain in the Lamb’s book of life if we as “born again” believers trust in the “righteousness of Christ” and not our own righteousness. We must have on our “wedding garments”. This means that our safety is in trusting what the Bible and the Bible only says. We cannot trust in “private interpretations” or live a “Christian” life of doing nothing for the Kingdom.
Many so called Christians live just like the rest of the world. They eat the same food, wear the same clothes, watch the same movies, speak the same ’slang’, get the same “hottest” material toys, etc. etc. These Laodicean Christians feel that they “have need of nothing” in regards to God’s word or God’s commandments. [Revelation 3:14-22]
God says; “Whosoever hath sinned against Me, him will I blot out of My book.” [Exodus 32:33] Many Christians try and complicate this issue by saying that God means only those who are not Christian can be “blotted out”. Well, many will do this because they want to live their own lives and not that of a “cross bearer”.
Revelation, chapter 3: 4,5
“But thou hast a few names in Sardis that did not defile their garments: and they shall walk with me in white; for they are worthy. He that overcometh shall thus be arrayed in white garments; and I will in no wise blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”
Only those Christians who have trusted in the finnished work of Jesus Christ will not be “blotted out”. It is really that simple. For God “will bring the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts.” [1 Corinthians 4:5]
It comes down to personal responsibility. Are we “doers” or are we “hearers” only? And what are we allowing ourselves to hear? False doctrines? or Truth? True Christians will “bare fruits”. That means that they will have the good fruit doctrines and good fruit actions. They will live a repentant life. They will obey God’s commandments. They will trust in God’s word alone for salvation. You will know them by their fruits.
To “just believe” in the Lord, Jesus Christ means that we believe the whole Bible. We believe in the commandments, the church, the prophecies, etc. True believers believe ALL of what God has said.
Today we could ask ourselves these questions: Am I trusting in the finnished work of Christ Jesus? Do I believe in doing things God’s way or have I gone about to establish my own righteousness? Am I walking in the ways of this world or am I seeking first the Kingdom of God? Do I take more pleasure in the things of the world or do I enjoy the comfort of a personal walk with Jesus?
Jesus tells us; “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” [Revelation 22:14]
