Yet Another Whistleblower
The Bush administration came in and the scope of our investigation was considerably shortened. I had never seen anything so corrupt and lawless in my entire career, what I saw regarding interference with a federal investigation of the most serious environmental disaster in the history of the Eastern United States...I've been in government since Richard Nixon. I've been through the Reagan administration, Carter and Clinton. I've never seen anything like this.
-- Jack Spadaro, former head of the National Mine Health and Safety Academy

Everyday, revelations like this and more terrible news from the warfront seem to confirm what Gore Vidal has said, that this administration will be known as the most hated in modern history.

i've actually just come from reading this, via some other link i was following, the entire article from CBS' site. i missed the 60 minutes featuring it. it's overwhelming. if i can pull myself together to do it, i'm going to do more to make people aware of this particular escapade.

These comments came from 60 Minutes (click the link). It would be nice if the other media picked up on this story -- the slurry disaster, the weak sanctions against Massey, the censure of Spadaro. Distressing stuff!

I hope these kinds of comments just keep coming and coming and coming! I also wish, though, that they'd be better publicized.
