Scalzi's Assignment
I case you haven't been over to By the Way lately, John Scalzi has given us a weekend assignment to list 25 things about ourselves. There's no way I could list 100 things about myself like some people have done, but 25 seems doable. The hardest thing is coming up with 25 interesting things -- I live a pretty boring life.
1. I used to be a Democrat, but now I'm an Independent Liberal. But you probably knew that already, didn't you?
2. I've voted for Republicans before, but never for a national office -- not even if they're running unopposed.
3. I've voted for two third-party candidates for president -- John Anderson and Ralph Nader.
4. I had to wear braces for several of my formative years. I had a bad overbite, but the braces went on when it was discovered that, like John Scalzi, I had three teeth in one place -- a baby tooth and two adult teeth.
5. I also had to wear orthopedic shoes throughout most of my formative years because my feet point inward instead of outward.
6. My favorite way to eat French Fries is with ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise...all at the same time.
7. The only famous people I've ever met are baseball great Hank Aaron -- I rode in the same plane with him from Atlanta to Chattanooga -- and pornstar Ron Jeremy -- I ran into him at Walt Disney World.
8. I was raised a Baptist, but now I'm a Free Thinker or an Agnostic.
9. I don't own a suit or a tie.
10. My favorite sports team is the Atlanta Braves...even during the dreadful '70's and '80's.
11. My IQ is somewhere between 130 and 140...but any intelligence I have is offset by my total lack of motivation and ambition.
12. I would rather know a little about a wide range of subjects than know everything there is to know about one narrow subject.
13. I went to college for almost six years, but didn't earn a degree. If I could have taken all the classes I needed at once, I would have finished in one more quarter, but I needed three classes that had to be taken one after the other.
14. I later went to a vocational school and got an associate's degree in computer programming, but this was before Windows and the Web. Html?
15. I took French in high school and hated it, so I took Spanish in college. I only know a few words in each language now.
16. Unlike most Americans, I would really like to gain a few pounds. I am six feet tall, but only weigh 150 lbs.
17. Except for one brief assignment, I've never had a first-shift job.
18. I've been to France, England and Jamaica, but have never been west of the Mississippi River.
19. I used to be a disk jockey. I loved it, but wasn't very good at it.
20. I've been a disgruntled postal worker for about ten years.
21. I am an introvert who really hates talking (or making lists) about myself. And small talk is like a foreign language.
22. My favorite color is any shade of blue.
23. Except for my college years and a brief time in Montgomery, Alabama, I've lived in the Chattanooga, Tennessee metro area my whole life.
24. If I were more motivated, I would probably be a writer or a photographer.
25. Finally, I've been married for 16 years and have two sons, a stepdaughter, and a step-grandson.

I've told more about myself answering your questions than I did in making my list...
I switched majors a few times and ended up majoring in Mass Communications. -
This was very cool to read your list! To gain weight, I recommend eating donuts (heh heh. Even the vegan ones are pretty hefty in calories, I'll tell ya). I also wanted to be a DJ--took a course in radio in college, but didn't take it much further than that...:(. When you were in college, did you declare a major at all?

I work at the Chattanooga processing plant. Every bit of mail into and out of the Chattanooga area goes through there.
I've griped about my job here before. The ricin letters came through my workplace and they didn't tell us about them until months later. -
What post office do you work at? Lol. Interesting list. http://journals.aol.com/lilra
