Feeling Happy
Hearing "Sacred Journy" by Billy Whitefox
New pictures
Well it's official. Lazarus attended the second fire call of his life the other day, and when I asked the Assistant Chief if that made him a firefighter, he said it sounded good to him. So, the first 3 pictures are Lazzy the fire cat!
All these pictures were taken this year. There is no particular rhyme, or reason to the way they are displayed. I did try to group pictures of like subjects together though.
# 8 - 19 were taken at my Uncle Dan's farm in January.
# 25 - 41 are my goats, and sheep. The twins were born on the first day of spring, hence the name Spring Thyme. Her Sister Wisdom named herself. I was reading out loud to them, and she responded to the work "wisdom." There mother is White Moon, and there father, Alex. TC is their full brother, born last spring. He takes great pride in caring for his Sisters.
# 42 - 47 + 49 - 51 are all pictures of ice on the trees. It's funny, we have had ice storms in the past, but this one, while the ice was thick, did very little damage.
# 52 - 56 are a tribute to a brother Firefighter. Tom was active in the Ambulance Corp, as well as the Fire Company. He will be greatly missed. The fire truck staid out day and night until the funeral. A light snow fell the first night, and melted to look like tears (54) The melting snow left icicles on the cuff of his turnout gear. (55)

Feeling Quiet
Hearing Willow Purring on my shoulder
BEST OF 2007
Though this entry is titled "Best Of 2007" not all the pictures were taken then. When I started out, it was just going to be "Best Of". A mixture of some of the best of my photos from past years. However, when I stated going through pictures from 2007, I realized the entry would be way to large if I didn't put some sort of limits on it.
All of the pictures here, were chosen either because of form, content, or subject matter. Some have been in other entries, like the few from the County Fair. Others have not been seen by anyone but me. I will try to introduce the pictures in groups, by subject, or where they were taken. Interspersed between groups are scenic shot's that I've taken this year. Only the first two were taken before 2007.
#1 I took this picture as a simple picture of my cat Willow, but when I saw it, it was SO much more. The depth of it, with the reflection in the glass impresses me. It's one of my favorite pictures.
#2 This is Guido the one eared hamster. Guido died of old age a couple years ago, but I love the irony of this picture. It kind of puts the world in perspective.
#3 Is a dream catcher I made last year. It's all hand done, from wrapping the hoop with leather, to weaving the web, and decorating it. Though I haven't made any lately, I do enjoy making them.
#4-16 + 19-22 were all taken at the Wayne County Fair 2007
#24-31 are from my friend Jon's farm.
#73-84 were taken on July 4, 2007. My Aunt Sissy, and I took pictures of the seagulls swooping, and diving for the rolls we through out for them. The two of us were side by side taking pictures, and laughing like idiots. We laughed so hard we couldn't stand up. Sissy had never taken fast action shots like that before, and had a hard time following the birds, while looking through the view finder. She got some spectacular shots that day, but I still laugh, thinking about that day. "Where are they? I can't find them?" she'd say. I'd laugh harder, and tell her "They're right there." Truth be told, I'm not sure whether we couldn't stand, for laughing, or because we were dizzy from following the birds through our view finders.
#89-100 were taken at the Agricultural Fair 2007. The horses are all Belgian Draft horses, from Honey Locust Farm. I don't know who owns the mule, and donkey, but I love the picture. It's just perfect with the statue.
# 109-111 were taken at my friend Roger's farm. The animals in # 114-115 belong to Roger's brother-in-law.
#116- 125 are all from my Uncle Dan's farm. When these were taken, he had three dogs, who love to play together. They sound like they are going to kill each other, but they never hurt each other. Makes for some dynamic pictures though. He now has one more.
I hope you have enjoyed this little trip into the past year, and as always, I invite you to leave your comments on this journal. (Note; If you use the "View Larger" option the photo's look better.)

Feeling Chillin'
Hearing "Sacred Journey" by Billy Whitefox
County Fair 2007
Hi all! It's that time of year again. Our County Fair just ended, and it's time to start planning for next year. It was a pretty good year, and should look good in pictures. This was my third year as the photographer for the fair, and I have been asked back for next year. It's a demanding job, taking pictures at all the major events, and it got frustrating at times, when events overlapped, and the Fair Board wanted pictures at both. At times I wish there were others to take pictures. There is more than enough to keep several photographers busy. To be honest though, it is fun being the only one. There are others of course who work for news papers, but the pictures I take are for the fair. That gives me more freedom than they have as a rule, but I still have to make many pictures look fresh, and new, where they need only a few pictures for the week. I took near 3,000 pictures this year, and am happy with most of them. It pleases me greatly to share them with you, and I encourage you to leave your comments on this journal.
Monday # 1 - 20
Tuesday #21 - 53
Wednesday # 54 - 86
Thursday # 87 - 121
Friday # 122 - 153
Saturday # 154 - 204
As always, it was difficult to chose only a few pictures, and many well deserving pictures did not make my journal. These 204 pictures cover most of the major events. I'll admit, there are quite a few pictures of our County's Volunteer Fire Fighters in this journal. The simple explanation is: I'm one of them I've known some of these guys for years. They work hard, and get little or nothing in return. This is my way of thanking them.

Feeling Mischievous
Hearing Marty Robbins "Gunfighter Ballads, & Trail Songs"
Critters of Course
AOL, I am happy to say, is now giving us a choice of using the old format, or the new. I'm extremely happy with this! I was quite indignant at not having control of the format I could use. I'm happy now! Please bare with me now, while I make changes in back entries. Just ignore statement that don't make sense. My journal is still a bit of a mixed up mess at the moment.
This entry is made up of pictures I have taken in the last couple of months. The first 30 are from my Uncle Dan's farm. The rest were taken here at home.
# 31. We rescued a dozen chicks this winter. Of the twelve, three survived. Sam & Ella & Wingnut. This picture is of the two roosters. They live with Uncle Dan now.
I recently bought a new pack to go packing with my critters. Cloud is my "Pack Goat" but due to an injury, we can't go packing any more. He's still my Little Boy though. Lately it's been Juju, and Alex packing with me.
# 48 - 54 The twins! TC (Tornado's Core) & TY (Typhoon). They were born March 29, 2007
My apologies to Fire, who didn't get his picture in this entry. Maybe next time Fire.

Things To Make You Smile
This is a different kind of entry, than I have ever done. It isn't designed to make you think, but to make you feel the pictures. For this reason, there are no captions to distract you. Let the pictures fill you.
Most of these pictures were taken in the past few months. All were taken by me, and I chose to share them with you. I ask only, that you do not copy pictures from this entry, (they are copywrited) but please feel free to come back and look whenever you like. I also encourage you to leave comments, right here in this journal. I'm very interested in how this entry touches each of you.
Now, I encourage you to use the "View Larger" feature. maybe put on some relaxing music. Just take a moment to sit quietly, and "feel" the photos. Smell the earthy cent of the farm market in spring. Listen to the waves break at the shore, and feel the spray on your face. imagine the mystery of what lays hidden in the trees. Let the stillness of the evening fill you. Peak through the leaves, to find an angel, Experience the fog, or the spring breeze, and the warmth of the sun on your face. Smell the flowers, or walk barefoot in the grass just after the rain. Where this takes you is entirely up to you.
Best of all, you needn't leave the comfort of your chair. Enjoy!

Feeling Chillin'
Hearing MEDITATIONS: Native Americam Flute
County Fair
I'm happy to have this entry back to normal. This entree did loose a lot of heart with the other format. I'm happy to have the tribute back as it should be, but I'm not going to delete the addition I made that explains my displeasure. It did, and does steam me. I took it very personally.
What really hurts me is the last few picture, as I entered them. They were a tribute to a dear friend who has now passed. I had good reason for the order they were in. I thought it fitting that a picture of him, and his first K-9 partner come before, and after the one of his Daughter, and his last K-9 partner.
It steams me that AOL messed that up.
1-6 Monday

26-47 Wednesday (44-48 Board meeting)

124 - 127 ** In Memory Of Sheriff's Deputy John Heckle**
This was my second year as the photographer for our county fair. I have already been asked to take pictures again next year. In 5 days, I took over 1,100 pictures. Most with my new digital camera. I kind of fell into getting this camera, a beautiful, and very impressive "Olympus" camera. I got it from my Aunt Sissy, after she got a new one. I only had it for a few days, before the fair, and was very impressed with the quality of the pictures it takes.
As with last year, I learned a lot. It was a challenge to make each picture fresh, and interesting, but I think I did OK. What do you think?
It was difficult for me to chose only 125 pictures, of all of them. Many worthy pictures were left out, and I am sorry for that. There just isn't room for all of them. I hope you enjoy what you see, and encourage your comments. Kasodi

Feeling Happy
Hearing Kenny Rogers "The Number One Hits"
Lazzy The Fire Cat
Yesterday I took Lazarus with me to the post office. On our way home, the fire siren started up. I couldn't ignore it, so Lazarus went to his first fire call. He didn't go on the trucks or anything, I stayed at the fire hall with him, and answered the radio. The guys thought itwas cool, to have a cat on a call. He's their mascot now. Their reactions ranged from laughter, to wonder, and surprise. Laz rode in on my shoulder, and never flinched, as fire trucks were started up, and sirens wailed. He stayed with me in the radio room, and helped do the paperwork. What a good boy!

Feeling Anxious
Hearing "Take Me Home" The John Denver Story
My Kids (goat & sheep)
These are my critters, not in any particular order.
Raven is a Toggenburg / Boer cross. One of twins, her brother Rain Arrow lives with a friend of ours. Her Dam was "Trisha Poe" a beautiful Togg. Her Sire was Blue, a handsome Boer buck, with great personality.
Fire is a Katahdin wether. Katahdins are a breed of hair sheep developed in the state of Maine. The founder of the breed named after Mt. Katahdin. The highest peak in that state. His parentage is unknown. {It took a long time to find a name for Fire. I didn't like the one he came with. He didn't answer to it anyway.}He's kind of skittish, but getting better. he has lived here for a year now.
"Dune" Runner is a Toggenburg / Boer cross. One of twins, her brother is Cloud. There Dam, Lady let them nurse, until they were 3 years old. (She didn't have any milk, but she let them.) There Sire was Blue.
Alex is a Romanov Ram. Romanov sheep are known for multiple births, and are said to "Lamb In Litters." They are born black. As they grow in there fleece, they lighten to a silvery gray. We rescued Alex at a few days old, and bottle raised him. His Dam, I think was named Ruby, but I can't remember his Sire's name. #22 Alex got the grain pail stuck on his head.
"Cloud"Dancer is a Togg / Boer cross. Dune's full brother. Cloud was a bit of a flak when he was young, and did not like people. He still doesn't like strangers, but he's really friendly with me. He loves to stick his nose in the camera lens. When I take him packing, I call him my "Dope On A Rope"
Two Socks is a pygmy wether, that I got from my Uncle. Two Socks, and Fire grew up together, but were separated when my Uncle took them. They are good friends again, and tend to stay near each other. He was standoffish when I got him a couple months ago, but he's a friendly little snot now. [his name was L. S. when I got him.]
Princess "Juju" is also a Togg / Boer cross. Her Dam was Trisha Poe, her Sire, Blue. Juju Raven's older sister. I bottle raised Juju, as her Mother didn't have enough milk, and would not take care of her. Juju is friendly with everybody. Especially if there is a treat involved.
{I just had to add #23.} Titan is a Romanov / Katahdin cross ram. His Dam was Tullulah, and his Sire Brutes. I sold Titan a few years ago. More out of necessity, than want. He had already bred his mother once, and I didn't want him to breed her again, or his ewe lambs from the first time. I would dearly love to buy him back. What a character, and very friendly, despite being raised by his mother.
