Feeling Chillin'
Hearing "Sacred Journey" by Billy Whitefox
County Fair 2007
Hi all! It's that time of year again. Our County Fair just ended, and it's time to start planning for next year. It was a pretty good year, and should look good in pictures. This was my third year as the photographer for the fair, and I have been asked back for next year. It's a demanding job, taking pictures at all the major events, and it got frustrating at times, when events overlapped, and the Fair Board wanted pictures at both. At times I wish there were others to take pictures. There is more than enough to keep several photographers busy. To be honest though, it is fun being the only one. There are others of course who work for news papers, but the pictures I take are for the fair. That gives me more freedom than they have as a rule, but I still have to make many pictures look fresh, and new, where they need only a few pictures for the week. I took near 3,000 pictures this year, and am happy with most of them. It pleases me greatly to share them with you, and I encourage you to leave your comments on this journal.
Monday # 1 - 20
Tuesday #21 - 53
Wednesday # 54 - 86
Thursday # 87 - 121
Friday # 122 - 153
Saturday # 154 - 204
As always, it was difficult to chose only a few pictures, and many well deserving pictures did not make my journal. These 204 pictures cover most of the major events. I'll admit, there are quite a few pictures of our County's Volunteer Fire Fighters in this journal. The simple explanation is: I'm one of them I've known some of these guys for years. They work hard, and get little or nothing in return. This is my way of thanking them.

LOL, Knew that statement would get me into trouble. In the early days of fire trucks, most of them were red. I don't know why, but that became the classic color. Some years ago, many of the insurance companies gave fire companies a break, if they changed the color of there trucks to yellow. Yellow is more visible. Now fire trucks come in just about any color you can think of. In our area, we even have orange ones, that belong to Pumpkin Hook fire company. I've seen black ones, blue ones, even a gray one once. For the most part, a fire fighter is partial to whatever color fire trucks their department has. I grew up with the yellow trucks, so "Real fire trucks are yellow!" It's an ongoing joke between Pultneyville, and our neighboring companies. It's a small joke on my fellow firefighters who have the wrong color trucks.

Hi Becky:
Enjoyed your fair again this year, so many things going on. Have a question for you......if real fire trucks are yellow, then why are so many red? Is it a towns decision what color they will be? just curious. Lovely pictures, and I loved the way you did the pictures the last time you went to Uncle Dan's thats neat!!!!!!
thanks for sharing,
Aunt Joyce
