P is for...

P is for Penny Sculpture.

Toronto Artist Evan Penny had a sculpture on display called, "The back of Kelly" and it was so realistic.  He's the the balding man facing away from us in the upper left.  The sculpture looked like a real person (only larger) and yet like a holographic image.  If you didn't stand directly in front of it, it's perspective took on a surreal appearance.  And if you tried to look at Kelly's face, all you saw was a flat surface with no image on it.  It was creepy and fascinating at the same time.  I would have taken a picture of it but the Columbus Museum of Art only allows photographs of the works in their collection and this one wasn't a part of the collection...so I was told as I started to raise my camera to shoot.

I had to keep my hands in my pockets to obey the large, "Do Not Touch" sign displayed prominently next to Kelly.

If you think a picture is eery, you should have seen the real deal.  It was surreal.  It had a texture that screamed out, "Try a feel!"
