I told ya so....
It snowed this morning. It's fricken March and it snowed and we're suppose to have more snow flurries early in the morning. I told ya, the midwest will always get one last snow in March. Next week it's suppose to get into the 60's. The weather will start changing and my sinus' will get even worse. Well, in the hopes that we will start having some warmer weather, I've started a little experiment in the yard. With all the snow and rain, the dogs have torn up some areas in the yard. Nada grass in some areas. I ventured out to the hardware store yesterday on the advice of Mom's hairdresser and purchased some patchmaster grass seed made by Scotts. I staked out the areas to block any traffic on it and put down this stuff. It reminded me of insulation...lol. It was blue funky mulch with the seed in it. I got all the areas covered with the blue funky stuff and watered it. I was told that even with a snow it will be ok, because it will keep it moist so it will germinate when it's warmer. Ok, we'll see. This stuff is suppose to be quick growing. Ok, we'll see. And if it doesn't grow, I'm ready for an Easter egg hunt in the blue funky stuff. I try to see the positive in this little experiment. Yeah, I'm going to take pictures. I think I'll get a little "roaming" gnome statue to put in the blocked off area, just for luck....lol.
Spring is a favorite season of mine, Rick's too. Mom got a hibiscus tree for Mother's Day last year. I didn't know it until I got home with it, but it was grown in the same place where Rick was born. Mom and I were really careful with it all winter, we planted it in a huge planter. Over the winter we had it inside, it's been a fixture in the kitchen because there is a lot of light that comes in. It is not flowering, but the leaves are still growing and I've been watering it and feeding it blooming fertilizer once a month. I'm looking forward to putting it back outside for spring as soon as it stays fairly warm outside. I'm hoping it will be blooming when Rick gets home.
Never give up, Never give in, Never let go!
