A lot of heart and courage
A day ago, I saw a segment on Glenn Beck. It has stayed with me for a number of reasons that those closest to me will only know why. The reason I'm writing about it however is because of the courage and heart in the story. There are more stories like this one out there but I'm not hearing about them. Maybe I'm not hearing about them because there aren't any in my area or because the media feels they aren't news worthy.
Beck has a segment once or twice a week on his show called "Real America" where he spotlights people, extraordinary people. This is what he had to say about the latest one he highlighted on March 11th's show:
"I`m going to introduce you tonight to somebody I met, I don`t know, about six months ago, and I was so moved by this guy. I don`t know if you`ve ever met somebody where they shake you to the core and you carry that person around for a week after."
"Once in a great while, you`ll hear somebody speak. And their story, their passion, their spirit sticks with you. For me, that person was Sergeant First Class Greg Stube."
Glenn Beck is part goof, but a goof with quite a bit of common sense. There are things I don't agree with him on, but I watch his show because of the common sense that shines through. He admits whole heartedly that he's not the smartest guy on the planet but he's a thinker. Personally, if he continues to bring stories like this one to the forefront, he's the smartest guy on the planet.
Sergeant First Class Greg Stube was serving in Afghanistan when an IED exploded and he was severely injured. I've put the link to the video segment in here for anyone to see. Beck is interviewing Stube and his wife on this Friday's show (March 14th) for the full hour. I think it is well worth watching. It starts at 7pm est on the CNN Headline News network.

It's not enough to know anonymously about these kinds of stories. We need to know the people. Know who they are and what they believe. These are the people that sacrifice and struggle through this war. We need to know their sacrifice, we need to know why they do it. In their stories we will find the reason this country is a great country. It's not enough to say "Support the troops", we must take every opportunity to KNOW the troops and their families. To understand what it takes to keep our country free and safe for us now and into the future. Freedom is not free, it has a cost; a much higher cost than what Congress votes on. No amount of money can qualify the worth of our freedoms and the worth of those who willingly and whole heartedly do their duty to provide those freedoms. The service members and their families are worth knowing and understanding their sacrifice. We will never know the true story of this war unless you know the warrior's stories.
Never give up, Never give in, Never let go!
