As Bush started speaking at the naturalization ceremony welcoming new citizens at Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, one of the country's Founding Fathers, a group of anti-war protesters began shouting at him, calling him a "WAR CRIMINAL."

Bill Clinton is so "BITTER" about Barack Obama's victory over his wife Hillary that he has told friends the Democratic nominee will have to "BEG" for his wholehearted support.

Mr Obama is expected to speak to Mr Clinton for the first time since he won the nomination in the next few days, but campaign insiders say that the former president's future campaign role is a "sticking point" in peace talks with Mrs Clinton's aides.
The Telegraph has learned that the former president's "RAGE" IS "STILL" SO GREAT that even loyal allies are "SHOCKED" by his patronising attitude to Mr Obama, and believe that he risks damaging his own reputation by his intransigence.
A senior Democrat who worked for Mr Clinton has revealed that he recently told friends Mr Obama could "KISS MY AZZ" in return for his support.
A second source said that the former president has kept his distance because he still does not believe Mr Obama can win the election.
Mr Clinton last week issued a tepid statement, through a spokesman, in which he said he "is obviously committed to doing whatever he can and is asked to do to ensure Senator Obama is the next president of the United States ".
Mr Obama was more effusive at his unity event with Mrs Clinton on Friday, speaking fondly of the absent former president, who attended Nelson Mandela's birthday celebrations in London instead.
The candidate told the crowd: "I know how much we need both Bill and Hillary Clinton as a party. They have done so much great work. We need them badly."
But his aides said he has so far concentrated on cementing relations with Mrs Clinton first. They say they are content to let relations with Mr Clinton thaw gradually.
It has long been known that Mr Clinton is "ANGRY" at the way his own reputation was tarnished during the primary battle when several of his comments were interpreted as "RACIST."
But his "LINGERING FURY" has "SHOCKED" his friends. The Democrat told the Telegraph: "He's been angry for a while. But everyone thought he would get over it. He hasn't. I've spoken to a couple of people who he's been in contact with and he is "MAD AS HELL."
"He's saying he's not going to reach out, that Obama has to come to him. One person told me that Bill said Obama would have to quote "KISS MY AZZ" close quote, if he wants his support.
"You can't talk like that about Obama - he's the nominee of your party, not some house boy you can order around.
"Hillary's just getting on with it and so should Bill."
Another Democrat said that despite polls showing Mr Obama with a healthy lead over Republican John McCain, Mr Clinton doesn't think he can win.
The party strategist, who was allied to one of the early rivals to Mr Obama and the former First Lady, said Mr Clinton was "very unhopeful" about the nominee's prospects in November.
"Bill Clinton knows the party will unite behind Obama, but he is telling people he doesn't believe Obama can win round voting groups, especially working-class whites, in the swing states," the strategist said.
"He just doesn't think Obama will be able to connect with the voters he needs."
Joe Klein, the author of Primary Colours, a fictionalised account of Mr Clinton's 1992 election, who has known the former president for 20 years, said he also heard that he was "VERY, VERY, BERY, BITTER," from people who have spoken with him.
"It's time for him to get over it or go off and do his charitable work. He knows the rules of the road. What's going on now is kind of strange. I think his behaviour is really, really shocking."

The Bush/McCain gas price escalation is an Enron "RERUN." It is Chapter 2 of the scam that Bush crony "Kenny Boy" Lay used in 1999-2001 to "STEAL" $100 billion from California ratepayers.
Now this administration is replicating that crisis to funnel untold billions into the coffers of its oil baron backers ... and to push the failed strategies of offshore drilling and nuke power.
There is no doubt that we are at the edge of the petro-abyss. Peak oil is upon us, as is the global-warmed finale of Earth's carrying capacity for burning more fossil fuels. It is the perfect storm that must end the age of fossil/nuke.
But the immediate situation is not so clear. Bush/McCain say soaring prices are due to a lack of supply, and there are those who agree.
The Saudis, and others with more credibility, argue the price rise is contrived by bankers and speculators. Their mega-theft comes not only at the gas pump, but in food prices and other essentials. {DUH!!!}
Whatever the case, remember that during the "ENRON" "CON," there was no shortage of electric generating capacity.
Enron's operatives "LAUGHED" into their PCs as they selectively shut perfectly operable power stations and jacked up electric prices 700 percent and more. Enron, of course, later went bankrupt, wiping out countless thousands.
Contrived or otherwise, today's soaring gas prices are a tangible bonanza for Bush/McCain. Offshore drilling would put billions in their cronies' pockets but would not lower gas prices a single cent.
Nuke power could mean billions more in radioactive lucre for reactor builders who may never deliver a single electron of electricity.
It's no accident that what Bush/McCain are not advocating is a massive shift to increased efficiency and renewable energy.
Prior to the Enron disaster, green power advocates proposed that some 600 megawatts of renewables and efficiency be installed in California. They said this "floor" was needed to protect the state from precisely the kind of gouging Enron then did.
But Southern California Edison's John Bryson helped kill the green power proposal. Bryson now likes to be photographed in front of photovoltaic arrays. But he used a deregulation package promising a "free market in energy" to help pay off failed reactors at San Onofre and Diablo Canyon. Then he stepped back while Enron cashed in.
Today, despite years of grassroots advocacy, Bush has done everything in his power to squelch the conversion to a green-powered economy. Even as gas prices soar, there is no meaningful commitment to reviving mass transit, increasing fuel efficiency, or promoting renewable energy.
Indeed, Bush/McCain's two-step obsession with fossil fuels and nuke power is perfectly suited to guarantee that the public's money does not go to renewables and efficiency. Those technologies could actually solve both the climate and the energy supply crisis. But they would strip the fossil/nuke cartels of their death grip on the global economy.
Ironically, soaring fossil fuel prices make building reactors even more expensive. Using high gas prices to push nukes that only produce electricity (and radioactive waste) is a complete disconnect.
Today's wind and solar technologies are far cheaper than atomic energy, not to mention quicker to build, safer, more reliable and ecologically sound. The one thing certain about reactor construction is that it will stretch out years longer than planned.
Capital costs are certain to at least double or triple before the first reactor could ever come on line, taking atomic energy totally out of the price range of renewables.
New drilling is also absurd. The offshore and other protected areas Bush/McCain would destroy have limited, expensive oil beneath them. The GOP "energy plan" is that of a desperate junkie, tearing apart the planet for a few last grains of white powder to snort up its nose. That there will then be no more does not seem to matter.
The United States once had the world's greatest mass transit system, which was consciously destroyed by the auto and oil industries to sell more cars and gas.
It once had a virtual monopoly on the renewable and efficiency technologies that can solve global warming and give us energy independence, with local communities taking control of their energy supply.
Enron's hucksters staged that fake electricity crisis to gouge California while pushing back the transition to a green-powered economy.
Now Enron II, the gas price crisis, is about gouging the whole nation. And about yet again postponing a community-owned, green-powered future.
The Solartopian conversion to renewables and efficiency could put the Bush/McCain barons of fossil nuke out of business. The sooner the better.

Homeless people living in cars and motorhomes across the US are being joined by a new breed: the middle class.
As mortgage foreclosures continue to rise, growing numbers of middle-class professionals are losing their homes and downsizing from four bedrooms to four wheels.
With numbers rising, New Beginnings, a homeless agency in Santa Barbara, California, has launched a safe parking scheme, whose aim is to provide a refuge of sorts for those who have nowhere to go other than their vehicle.
Guy Trevor lost his job as an interior designer when the sector contracted thanks to the foreclosure crisis. With his furniture sold and his belongings in storage, he nowlives in his car, spending the nights in one of the 12 gated car parks in Santa Barbara run by New Beginnings.
"I see myself as a casualty of a perfect storm," he said. "The people sleeping at the [car parks]are ... just like me. They come from normal, everyday homes. I think a lot of people in this country don't realise that they, too, are a couple of pay cheques away from destitution."
In normally affluent Santa Barbara there were 150 foreclosures last month, with a total of 800 for the year ending in May, according to the county assessor's office, which assesses property for tax purposes.
Each month, an auction of foreclosed properties is held on the steps of the Santa Barbara courthouse.
"The way the economy is going, it's amazing the people who are becoming homeless. It's hit the middle class," Nancy Kapp, of New Beginnings, told CNN.
Another of Kapp's clients, Barbara Harvey, 67, also lost her job and subsequently her home thanks to the foreclosure crisis. As with Trevor, her job as a loans processor was connected to the housing market.
Harvey now lives with her three dogs in her car, parking at night in a women-only car park run by the agency. "I didn't think this would happen to me," she said. "It's just something that I don't think that people think is going to happen to them."
The rise in the number of homeless people sleeping in cars has led to a clampdown in Los Angeles. In common with many US cities, it is illegal to live in vehicles on public streets. This year the city banned almost all overnight parking on residential streets. A first violation receives a $50 (£25) fine, while subsequent offences carry fines of up to $100.
"For more working class and lower middle class people, the car is the first stop of being homeless, and sometimes it turns out to be a long stop," Gary Blasi, a University of California, Los Angeles, law professor and homelessness activist told the Associated Press.
The city has the highest number of homeless people in the US, with an estimated 73,000 living rough. A survey last year of more than 3,000 of them showed that 250 were sleeping in their cars.

1. Ann Taylor closing 117 stores nationwide A company spokeswoman said the company hasn’t revealed which stores will be shuttered. It will let the stores that will close this fiscal year know over the next month.
2. Eddie Bauer to close more stores - Eddie Bauer has already closed 27 shops in the first quarter and plans to close up to two more outlet stores by the end of the year.
3. Cache closing stores - Women’s retailer Cache announced that it is closing 20 to 23 stores this year.
4. Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug, Catherines closing 150 stores nationwide The owner of retailers Lane Bryant , Fashion Bug , Catherines Plus Sizes will close about 150 underperforming stores this year. The company hasn’t provided a list of specific store closures and can’t say when it will offer that info, spokeswoman Brooke Perry said today.
5. Talbots, J. Jill closing stores - About a month ago, Talbots announced that it will be shuttering all 78 of its kids and men’s stores. Now the company says it will close another 22 underperforming stores.
The 22 stores will be a mix of Talbots women’s and J. Jill, another chain it owns. The closures will occur this fiscal year, according to a company press release.
6. Gap Inc. closing 85 stores - In addition to its namesakechain, Gap also owns Old Navy and Banana Republic. The company said the closures - all planned for fiscal 2008 - will be weighted toward the Gap brand.
7. Foot Locker to close 140 stores - In the company press release and during its conference call with analysts today, it did not specify where the future store closures - all planned in fiscal 2008 - will be. The company could not be immediately reached for comment
8. Wickes is going out o f business - Wickes Furniture is going out of business and closing all of its stores, Wickes, a 37-year-old retailer that targets middle-income customers, filed for bankruptcy protection last month.
9. Goodbye Levitz - The furniture retailer, which is going out of business. Levitz first announced it was going out of business and closing all 76 of its stores in December. The retailer dates back to 1910 when Richard Levitz opened his first furniture store in Lebanon , PA. In the 1960s, the warehouse/showroom concept brought Levitz to the forefront of the furniture industry.
The local Levitz closures will follow the shutdown of Bombay.
10. Zales, Piercing Pagoda closing stores - The owner of Zales and Piercing Pagoda previously said it plans to close 82 stores by July 31. Today, it announc ed that it is closing another 23 underperforming stores. The company said it’s not providing a list of specific store closures. Of the 105 locations planned for closure, 50 are kiosks and 55 are stores.
11. Disney Store owner has the right to close 98 stores The Walt Disney Company announced it acquired about 220 Disney Stores from subsidiaries of The Children’s Place Retail Stores. The exact number of stores acquired will depend on negotiations with landlords.
Those subsidiaries of Children’s Place filed for bankruptcy protection in late March. Walt Disney in the news release said it has also obtained the right to close about 98 Disney Stores in the U.S. The press release didn’t list those stores.

Home Depot store closings - ATLANTA - Nearly 7+ months after its chief executive said there were no plans to cut the number of its core retail stores, The Home Depot I nc.ann ounced Thursday that it is shuttering 15 of them amid a slumping U.S. economy and housing market. The move will affect 1,300 employees.
It is the first time the world’s largest home improvement store chain has ever closed a flagship store for performance reasons. Its shares rose almost 5 percent. The Atlanta-based company said the underperforming U.S.stores being closed represent less than 1 percent of its existing stores. They will be shuttered within the next two months.

22. Sharper Image: The company recently filed for bankruptcy protection and announced that 90 of its 184 stores are closing. The retailer will still operate 94 stores to pay off debts, but 90 of these stores have performed poorly and also may close.
23. Bombay Company: The company unveiled plans to close all 384 U.S.-based Bombay Company stores. The company’s online storefront has discontinued operations.

25. Dillard’s to Close More Stores Dillard’s Inc. said it will continue to focus on closing underperforming stores, reducing expenses and improving its merchandise in 2008. - America took the House and Senate away from the Republicans, gave it to the Democrats, and nothing was done to even pretend to stop the war. ZERO...

- We have the MOST "IMPEACHABLE" PRESIDENT AND ADMINISTRATION IN THE "HISTORY" OF THE UNITED STATES, literal war criminals, and "BOTH SIDES" of the aisle abjectly, irrefutably "REFUSE" to "REPAIR" America's destroyed image throughout the world.

- AMERICA IS "DYING" OF "CANCER" and these Congressional lap dog cretins "REFUSE" to perform the operation (impeachment) that would begin to restore some of the damage Bush has done to America and the rest of the world.

- Bush has stated repeatedly that the 'Axis of Evil' is Iraq, Iran and North Korea. Remember that??? I submit the true axis of evil is the US, UK and Israel.

- Many have come forward Bush and Cheney "LIED." The entire Bush Administration and Congress were/are just one Big Lie Machine. O'Neill and McClellan have both made it clear: Bush and Cheney LIED. Furthermore, Blair lied to the UK. Colin Powell "LIED." to the UN. Rice lied/lies every time she moves her lips.

- 9-11 WAS A "HUGE" "LIE." They needed an "EXCUSE" to attack Afghanistan and take over the Caspian Basin oil and have a pipeline route to get it to world markets. Not because America needs it, but because certain people in America want those trillions of dollars in their pockets.

- Over 3,000 American troops (13,000?) and countless others have been murdered because someone wanted those trillions of dollars.

- Do we really have to have a debate in America on the definition of what a LIE is??? Are we are a point in the course of our nation that Americans do not know the difference between the truth and a lie, fact versus fiction???

- I have heard it said that many Americans prefer to believe almost any lie over the simple truth...if it is more 'comfortable' for them. There was a time I did not believe that, but I do now.

- I am a devout Ecumenical Christian but have major disagreements with the Zionist Christians who think "thou shalt not kill" was a suggestion, not a Commandment. Killing based on lies is way past evil. I do not think they will win the debate with God on Judgment Day that the Iraqi genocide they supported was okay due to semantics and splitting hairs over what the definition of genocide or murder is.

- At the gas pump, cash only is about to be required because the gas stations are tired of giving 3% to 8% to the credit card companies on the sale. It is affecting their bottom line, too.
