Common Sense

Public Journal
This is my way of staying sane.  So much happening today that drives me nuts.  I vent and point out what I see is wrong and offer my own common sense solutions.  Agree or not, take it or leave it.  This is for me not you, but if you agree give feed-back.  It helps to know I am not alone. Feeling Worried

Produce our own oil

I have been wondering just how much oil we import into the United States.  Tonight I was shocked to hear that this figure is 1.2 million barrels of oil per day.  Do you comprehend what that means?  Let’s see….with the price of oil per barrel at $70.00 times 1.2 million barrels per day, we are spending $84,000,000.00 per DAY!  Do you hear me?  This is 365 days per year or $30,660,000,000.00 annually if I am doing the math correctly.  I can’t even comprehend wealth of this magnitude and we are sending this amount to countries hostile to America every damned year! Are we insane?  The wealth of the world is flowing to Islamic nations and we wonder what the future looks like.  Use your imagination.  I don’t like the vision that comes to mind.

It is time to become energy independent and NOW!  It is time we spoke up and told the environmentalist and tree huggers to shut the fuck up and drill for our own oil.   It is time we told our politicians to take care of America first and stop taking Mid East lobby money.  The Middle East holds the rest of the world hostage, but why us when we have our own oil?  America has enough oil reserve to supply our needs and our friends, and with an exportable supply of oil, America will have many new friends as well.  Imagine how much influence America would have if we became the world supplier of oil.  Imagine also how the price of gas at home would drop.

Any reasonable person knows that alternative fuels will come in time, the sooner the better, but in the interim do we have to bankrupt our own country?  Let’s keep our wealth in America and compete and make more.  Imagine the opportunities this wealth would provide us at home in the form of jobs, income, benefits, taxes, etc.

Can we get mad and do something about it?  Will you?  Do we dare wait on our politicians to solve these problems when they seem only interested in patrician politics and being re-elected?  We can start in our own state.  One thing we can do is by-pass the politicians and push for a state referendum to drill oil, build refineries, alternative fuel development.  Just imagine how wealthy your state would be if you were the first to develop hydrogen fuel.

Think about it and get pissed like I am.  Call your local radio talk shows, write letters to the editor, talk to your representative, tell your friends and get a movement going in your community.  People are just waiting to get involved.  They just need a direction.  The vast silent majority needs to speak up before it is too late.  Maybe it is already.

Feeling Hopeful

I want my country back

I listen to a lot of talk radio.  I have found that the main stream media does NOT give me all the news.  In fact their version of so called news is only propaganda for the far left.  Damn, I wish there was a news outlet that was pro-American.  Unfortunately we have to search for the truth.  Talk radio seems to be the only information worth listening to these days if you want to discover the truth.  Of course some of it is entertainment, but I would rather be entertained with facts, most of which I do not hear in the main stream media.  I get much encouragement listening to the callers.  I am happy to know that so many feel the same way about the issues of the day as I do.  There is so much frustration with out of control career politicians moving this country in the wrong direction.  They seem to have NO clue as to what the people want.  They seem not to care.  There only interest is getting re-elected and catering to the special interest groups that give them money.  I for one am sick of patrician politics and career politicians.

I digress.  I repeatedly hear from talk show callers, “What can we do?”  I wonder the same thing.  There must be something we can do besides wait for the next elections.  Why?  We get the same choices over and over and the same do nothing action.  What can we expect from career politician?  Most have never had a job in their life and have no idea what it is like to make a business successful or profitable or work a full hard days work.  Unfortunately, this is what we need in politics.  We need politicians that work for the people.  We need politicians to work for what is best for the country and people and not spend their time positioning for the next re-election.  We need politicians that go to Congress with a mission to work hard, make this a better country, and represent the will of the people.  After serving their term in Congress…come home and let the next representative take over.  We need to eliminate the career politician!

This is what we can do!  We can begin in our own states by changing the laws through referendums.  We can petition for ballet initiatives at each election.  We can make the changes our career politicians will not.  Can we expect the career politicians to enact term limits?  Right…Dream on.  Can we expect the career politicians to push for school voucher?  No politician would ever be re-elected without support of the Teacher’s Union.  How about breaking up the all or nothing electoral vote for a state?  Of course they would not.  That might allow a viable Independent candidate to make a serious run for President.  Imagine how the two parties would have to change if that happened.  No more business as usual.  Wouldn’t you like to drill oil in your own state and enjoy the prosperity it would bring?  Can you imagine career politicians taking on the Environmental and Mid East lobby?  Maybe an initiative could reverse some of the incredible self-imposed perks and benefits these elite have given themselves?  Maybe if we leave it up to the career politicians they will make these changes themselves.  What do you think?  Are you seeing the abundant possibilities, the impact of our action, and the absolute necessity?

We need to unite.  We need all Americans to get involved, we need especially the senior citizens that remember how it was, we need those right thinking politicians, and we need the radio talk show hosts to give us voice.  Together we can make a change.  What do you think?

HR 698  (Citizenship Reform Act of 2005)

Did you know that there was a bill introduced in Congress on Feb. 9, 2005, to change our Citizenship Laws to deny citizenship to children born to non citizens?  It was introduced in the house with ten sponsors and 84 co-sponsors.  These Representatives are very forward thinking Americans.  Have you heard about it?  Of course you haven’t!  It was buried in the Judiciary Committee on the same day.  About one month later (3/2/05) the bill was referred to House subcommittee on Immigrations, Border Security, and Claims where it currently remains.  I encourage you to review HR 698 at the following site: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/thomas  This is such a common sense bill that I can’t believe we have to enact it.  No other country on the face of the Earth gives automatic citizenship at birth to non-citizens.  Why should we be any different?  I can come up with hundreds of reasons why we shouldn’t.  I encourage you to write or E-mail your Congressman to urge this bill to be brought out of committee and debated.  Find out where they stand on HR 698 and ask them to support it.

This is a web site politicians don’t want you to know about: http://thomas.loc.gov/

I discovered this site doing some research on immigration and was surprised to find this bill. This is a site where you can research pending bills, action, sponsors, actual context of the bill, and voting records of all the politicians.  Their actions are no longer secret.

I want my country back

E-mail to my Senators:

I have absolutely had it!  I want my country back.  I am one of the silent majority, but I will no longer be silent.  I am sick of career politicians that have completely lost touch with the people of this country and seem only interested in special interest groups that contribute to their re-elections.  The very word politician sets me off and I am not alone.  We no longer trust them.  Most don’t represent me.  They come to office immediately concerned only with the next re-election.  Career politicians have pushed us to the very edge and it is time to push back.  This debate over border security and Illegal immigrations is the last straw.  Congress has pushed us too far.  We want our borders secure, we want immigrations controlled, and we do NOT want amnesty.  What part of NO do you not understand?  Politics as usual forces us to push for term limits and I for one will do everything I possibly can to promote this cause.  We want our elected officials to represent We the People.  We want our politicians to go to Congress for one or two terms and fight for the people then come home and face those that elected you.  We do not want partisan politics.  We are sick of it.  We want you to be Americans first and fight for America.  I am ready to vote for Daisy Duck just to break the trend.  I am but one voice speaking out, but I can assure you that far more think like me than what the main stream media would report.  The media is even more out of touch than politicians and you would be ill-advised to rely on them as a barometer.

Where is the Outrage?

How many of you even knew that the very critical vote to allow drilling of oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge took place last Wednesday night and was defeated?  In a Senate vote of 48-to-45 the drilling provision was removed from the Energy Bill presented by the President.  I am extremely angry that the timing of this vote came when everyone was away and enjoying Christmas.  It was as if this attack was slipped in while we were asleep.  I really want to know why and how this happened, and I want these Senators to answer to the people.

For those of you that don't already know, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is a sprawling 1.5 million-acre godforsaken refuge for caribou, migratory birds and grizzly bears.  Have any of you ever been there?  I haven't nor do I desire too.  Do you even know where it is?  Do you even care?

What is important to know is that underneath this refuge is one of the largest oil reserves in the world.  There is enough oil to make us and our allies totally independent from Middle East oil, OPEC’s rising oil prices, and the rape of our economy and wealth.

Of course we all want to save our environment and conserve wildlife (within reason), but the planned drilling footprint in this vast 1.5 million-acres is a measly 2000 acres.  Divide 2000 by 1,500,000 to get the percentage (.13%, barely over 1/10 of 1%).  With the technology that exists today can anyone honestly believe the oil companies would destroy this wildlife refuge?  The argument is hardly worth discussion and a real stretch of the imagination to even have an argument against drilling.

I don't know, but this seems like a no brainer to me.  We can keep our cost of gas down, make us independent from the strangle hold the mid east has us in, insure our future supply of oil, keep our own wealth and even make more, and even more important, stop funding terrorists nations that are dedicated to our destruction with our billions of dollars in oil money.  My question is, “What true American would NOT want this?”

The silent majority in this country has a strong voice that the politicians are afraid of, but was it heard?  Most didn't even know it was happening.  This was no accident.  It seems that the main stream media did not want you to know and those that might have voiced the strongest voice were on Christmas Holiday.  Are we becoming sheeple and not people and playing follow the leader and blindly believing what the mainstream media is telling us to believe?

The environmental lobbyists spent nearly eight months and more than $1 million on local and cable television advertising aimed at individual legislators in the swing states like Arkansas, North Dakota, Florida, and West Virginia.  The commercials were directed at the sheeple to put pressure on your representative and it worked.  The voice of the sheeple persuaded your Senator to swing their vote and defeat the provision of the bill.  Don't you feel proud?  And you thought you did a good thing.  In a few more months when the oil prices go back up, and they will now, we will be screaming at the escalating gas prices at the pump, but the same media will have you believing it is all Bush’s fault and Halliburton caused it.  I am telling you as a concerned American that we all better wake up and look around and stop this madness.  I think California is already lost.  I saw the same think happen here just last month. If you think it can't happen to you, please check out “Common Sense in California” at

http://journals.aol.com/gbabb911/CommonSense/

Back in the Watergate days Deepthroat said, “Follow the money.”  You need to ask yourself these questions.  Where is our oil money going?  Who would benefit if we do NOT drill or own oil in our own country?  Who doesn't want this to happen and why?  Where is all this money coming from to support these major environmental lobbyists that give staggering amounts of money in campaign contributions to politicians and to the media?    Hummmmm   Let me see?  Do I really have to give you the answer?  Are you really that dense or uninformed?  How does it make you feel to know we have lost control of our own country and are being manipulated?

Where is the outrage?  I will be asking my Senators why they voted the way they did and voicing my strong disapproval.  I hope you do the same.

Letter to Congressman

Dear Congressman Hunter

As I understand, Congress will be debating the issue of illegal immigration and border security soon.  I know your position and applaud your efforts in trying to pass legislation that will strengthen our borders and prevent the flood of illegal aliens coming into our country.  I urge you also to include and support the pending H. R. 698 bill currently in committee as part of all legislation dealing with illegal immigration, border security, and any guest worker program.

There will be no such thing as Guest Workers.  It is only another way of allowing an uncontrollable flood of illegal aliens into our country that will never go home.  We are told that after six years they will have to return to their country, but let me ask you this.  During the six years the workers reside in this country, isn’t it reasonable to assume that they will have children that will become US Citizens?  What happens then?  Are we going to send US Citizens home with their parents?  I was born, but not yesterday.  The answer to my question is a resounding NO!  I am sure you have thought about this.  The only way a Guest Worker program will work is if we change our Citizenship Laws with H. R. 698 to deny citizenship to children born to non citizens.  Under this condition a Guest Worker program might work and I would support it.

Change the Election Laws

I have been thinking about this for a while.  I am so tired of voting for the least of two evils for President.  Neither party seems to want to put up a decent candidate.  Actually I can’t imagine why anyone would want to run for public office with the nasty politics that goes on these days.  But, never the less we see only professional politicians that do not represent the will of the people.  Every now and then we see an independent candidate that we might like, but we don’t dare vote for them because in the two party system we would be wasting our vote and electing the worst of the two evils.  I am one of those that liked and voted for Ross Peroit, but wound up helping to elect Clinton by giving my vote to someone that didn’t stand a chance.  This I realized too late.  It seems like our choices are the hard left Communists or the moderate Liberals.  The conservatives seem to be missing anymore.

Our government needs fresh blood…those that haven’t sold their soul to the political machine.  The only way to open the doors to this is by changing our election laws.  We have to make room for a third party or independent.  This would bring competition to the system we now have and improve the two existing parties chances of bringing better candidates.

What I suggest we bring up for discussion is changing the way the States’ Electoral votes are cast in the National Electoral College.  Instead of all votes going to one candidate as most states currently do, break them down by candidate according to the popular vote.

This would allow an independent candidate to have a chance in future elections, give voice to the voters, prevent the waste of your vote, and provide a fair election process.  Some would argue that with multiple candidates one single candidate might not get the required number of electoral votes to become president.  This could all be resolved through negotiations.  The electoral votes for an independent candidate could be assigned to either party by the independent after receiving concessions, thus insuring that the winning candidate represents all views represented by the voters.  At the very minimum this form of election would force the two party system into a more competitive representation of the voters, and might even allow the election of an Independent candidate.  At least us voters would not be wasting our vote.

I just wonder what you think?

The Myth of Guest Workers

There is no such thing as Guest Workers.  It is another way of allowing an uncontrollable flood of illegal aliens into our country that will never go home.  We are told that after six years they will have to return to their country, but let me ask you this.  During the six years the worker resides in this country isn’t it reasonable to assume that they will have children that will become US Citizens?  What happens then?  Are we going to send US Citizens home with their parents?  I was born, but not yesterday.  The answer to my question is a resounding NO!  Have you thought about it?  The only way a Guest Worker program will work is if we change our Citizenship Laws to deny citizenship to children born to non citizens.  Under this condition a Guest Worker program would work and I would support it.

There is a pending bill that would do just that, but it is locked in committee.

                                                       H. R. 698

To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to deny citizenship at birth to children born in the United States of parents who are not citizens or permanent resident aliens.   http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/thomas

I think this is a reasonable approach, but we can not expect our politician to push it forward.  If it gains any momentum at all it will have to be pushed by the voters.  I urge you to think about this and pass our message on.  Write your representatives supporting this bill and ask them to bring it out of committee

Common Sense in California?

COMMON SENSE IN CALIFORNIA

To my friends in California I wanted to share what others outside of California are thinking about us.  I received the following message from the “A” Team mostly residing in Florida.  I saved it because I wanted to try and explain it so it wouldn’t happen to others, but to be honest I was unable to think about this last special election for some time without getting angry.  Now I am just disgusted with the voters of California, most of which are not the people of California, but rather the sheeple of California that blindly follow the hype and outright lies dished out by the extremely Liberal media.  I am sorry to say most of the people did not bother to find out the truth.  To be fair I must say that these ballet initiatives were just barely defeated, but defeated none-the-less.   Please read the following message and I will offer my comments afterwards.

Can anyone: "PLEASE" Explain What happened to Common Since in California???

Or is it, they Never Had Any??

Their Governor put 4 of the best Common Since items on the ballot they have ever had

& They rejected them "ALL"!! - - -

Think About this:  In California A 10 year old can get an abortion without notifying her Parents, but must get a permit slip From home, if they are late, or if they miss a class?

A teacher (of any grade) can work for “ 2 Years “ & after that “NEVER” be fired?

A Union can take money from their members, and give it to “ANY” party they choose?

For several years now, California elected Rep for the US Congress have been able to design their own area to represent, thus insuring their reelection?

What the governor proposed, to have California be re apportioned, by a group of retired judges, thereby insuring a clean division of the state and to make sure that every US Congressman   will represent a diversity of the population!

This Man was trying to help these STUPID - - -‘s

I gave the residence of California more credit than they obviously deserved and was very disappointed with the outcome.  The voters rightfully wanted and needed change in the Government of California and elected Arnold Schwarzenegger to be the new Governor.  He went to work to change the government taking on the largest organization of special interest groups in state politics, this being the State Employee Unions and Teachers Unions.  These groups own the politicians in California.  Education alone takes about half of the entire State budget and I might add without any budget oversight.  Without the contributions from these unions, few are or can be elected without their support which means they vote the way the unions tell them.  The approval of three of the initiative the Governor put on the ballot would have broken the strangle hold of these unions and opened the door for fair representation of the people.

Some facts that many of the sheeple in California are unaware of reinforce my belief of the honest and true intent of the Governor.  Most don’t even know that the Governor takes NO salary.  He works for free FOR the people.  He also gave up a $5,000,000.00 contract he had prior to becoming governor, because of attacks from the Liberals.  He is obviously NOT getting support from the largest special interest groups in California.  He owes no one favors and is the only true hope of saving California from self destruction.  This makes the defeat more frustrating.  We gave him the authority to make changes then didn’t give him the power.

Many are unaware that the unions increased dues to members to raise hundreds of millions to launch a personal attack against the Governor and flood the media with false advertising against the initiatives. I gave the people more credit than they deserve.  The initiatives are all no brainers.  They should have known better.

The right of a parent to be informed of a minor child before receiving an abortion is so basic it staggers the imagination.  I can’t even think of a comment.  I just shake my head in disbelief.

Tenure after only two years is unthinkable.  How many of you have ever had a job like that?  I have never had a job with tenure.  I expect to be fired if I don’t do my job.  No wonder our schools are out of control.

The right to approve how you union dues are spent is also basic.  As I mentioned earlier, these unions even increased the dues to fund political attacks above the normal political contributions.  This apparently has gone without challenge.  Who wants to take these powers on?  Well our Governor tried, unsuccessfully.  It will be a long time before anyone else tries.  Be warned this can happen in your state.  Wake up while you can.

Congressional districts in California look like the tentacles of an octopus reaching out to pockets of residence.  The politicians lay out their own districts grouping special groups insuring they can be re-elected.  The Governor’s initiative would have allowed retired judges to recommend the boundary lines guaranteeing true representation of the people.  The media and the retired Judge Wompler (People’s Court) had the sheeple believing that judges would then be in control of politics.  What most didn’t know is that after the recommendations were set up by the judges the people would then get to vote to accept them or not.  Sounds fair to me, but instead, the politicians continue to establish the districts and of course no one gets to vote on it.

So the people of California lost their chance to make changes in Government.  Where do we go from here?   I think back to Oklahoma.  haha

Out of Control

E-Mail: Arnold Schwarzenegger, California Governor

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger:

I think your common sense and decisive action is the only thing preventing this state from completely revolting against the insane politician and judges.  Do I sound overly dramatic?  I don’t think I am.  The majority of people of this state have reached the limit of what they are going to take.  The vast silent majority are sick and tired of having our votes negated and tossed aside like yesterday’s trash.

I for one will leave this state as fast as I can reasonably do so.  California is out of control.  I have watched again and again State and local referendums overwhelming passed by the voters just to see some judge rule the law unconstitutional.  This is totally absurd when the will of the people is overruled by some activists judge.  We feel it is useless to even bother to vote; which is probably want they want.   Our elected representatives seem useless and impotent to stop the judges, even worse, they are now part of the problem.

The problem has never been clearer than this last fiasco over Proposition 22 (banning same-sex marriages).  It is inconceivable that this Proposition was overwhelmingly passed by the voters then ruled unconstitutional by an activist judge.  This in itself is unacceptable to the majority of the residents of California, but to add insult to injury, we witness the California legislators pass AB 849 (gay marriage bill) authorizing same sex marriages in direct opposition to the will of the people.  Is this America?  The people will not accept the politicians’ abuse of their power.   The silence you hear is because the people don’t know what to do, but it will come to us.

On the positive side of this issue, such that there is one, I understand that not one single Republican voted for this bill.  Unfortunately the California Legislature is controlled by the Democrats.  At a minimum this side of the isle needs to be reviewed and will be by the voters.  Enough is enough.

In light of the information provided from my viewpoint, I want to let you know how strongly I support you and phrase you for your position in promising to veto this bill.  This takes strength and courage to stand for the people and against the pressure of the special interest groups and professional politicians they obviously own.  We stand with you.
