Lab tests show sugar is back to normal!
Photo taken today!
What is more I have lost seven pounds since I went off sugar about 4 months ago. Blood pressure was 120/78 which is good. The only thing of concern was that my thyroid was running slower, so he had to up my dosage some. So that will be something to watch. I have not had a change in that for a number of years. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease thirty something years ago and put on thyroid meds for life.
He is going to freeze the spot off my cheek next time I go in. I go to the eye doctor next to see about my cataracts and to the hearing doctor to check my hearing! I have been without these services for about three years, because I so hated to change to another plan. I don't know why. I am now very happy with Mercy Care Advantage. I did not even know they still offered the services my plan at Maricopa Country cut a long time ago. I guess they are not as bankrupt. Doc is the one who insisted I change. He was tired of me saying, "Huh? What did you say?"
I did get a chance to talk to the doctor about Doc and his drinking. He didn't much want to talk to me about it but I was afraid Doc would sail right through there with not even a mention of his alcoholism. I said will his alcohol level show up in his lab tests? The doctor said I can't talk to you about his lab tests! I said he won't even get the lab tests. He has had the papers for six months. He agreed that if he drank as much as I said he did trouble was coming down the road, but Doc is the one who has to want to save his own health. I did say I did not think he could quit without going into rehab. The doctor seemed prepared to help him do that, so that was about all I could do.
When I got home Doc said how about us going to Flagstaff for a few days. I said no, Doc, I am not going anywhere with you drinking. We could do a lot of things if you were sober. As it is now, he probably wants me to go along to take care of him! I have to think twice about going to the store with him! He is a little bit worried about some symptom he is having now, but worried enough to do anything? I don't know.
In the meantime I am happy with the results of my efforts to stop eating all desserts, anything loaded with sugar. A thin layer of honey or sugar free jam on toast. And a few drops of honey on cereal. That's about it. I eat fresh fruit as my sister, Ann, the diabetic does. I am kind of following her diet. She is severe with no pancreas! I will continue on my vegan diet, as well, no meat, dairy, chicken or fish, just beans, nuts, etc, for protein. I figure if this diet has not killed all the vegans in the world it won't kill me either. Look at Bob Barker who worked up into his eighties, which reminds me I have got all the ingredients of the Bob Barker Vegan Enchilada Bake. Doc even likes that!

Glad that your blood sugars are fine. I can eat half of a banana and shoot mine up a lot. So I lay off most fruit and juices. I do use honey on my toast also and use sugar free jam at other times. Cereal makes mine run up also. Even 8 oz of milk will. Helen

Well done in keeping your sugars where they should be. Nope, you can't discuss someone else's medical problems with their dr lol
