Sister Ann corrects report of what happened in Phoenix...

GERRY: My sister Ann was there so she knows what happened the winter I was gone:

ANN: (in a comment) Mother and Dad had actually moved into the house when this HUGE life-threatning fight happened.  She was ironing and threatened to burn him with the iron which he knocked out of her hand and got into the physical fight.  She moved into an apartment in her apartment bulding.  He stayed at the house, thinking they would work it all out, but she reactivated a divorce proceedings she had on hold and got into court (which he read about in the paper)...and went on her honeymoon with Vic.  They were married in Idaho...and....the rest is there.
Who could worry about their own life with those two threatening death at every corner?   We were just trying to keep them sane and alive."

ANN: (in an e-mail) I hope it was okay to correct you on the time issue..Mother came over all gouged and battered about 12 p.m. (It took awhile for her to get away.)   She went back to her apartment.  Daddy came over at 5 A.M. to tell me Mother just told me a bunch of lies.  That's when I told him about the gouges in her neck and she didn't lie, he did beat her up.  He didn't deny it.  I told him to stay away from that apartment and LET HER RECOVER.  I said if he went down to see her at all,  I would file a police report and they would come after him.  I would call 911 if he drove off the property.

He was lulled into thinking all would be well as long as he let her alone until he read about the divorce.  He insisted on showing up at court.  Merrill Taylor happened to be there and he said he'd ride down with him (take him down) and make sure he didn't kill her.  So Daddy witnessed the divorce talking place...was mad because the judge wouldn't let him talk...and came home.  Mother went out the door, got in the car with Vic and took off...disappearing off the face of the earth for 10 days.  We were going to give her one more day and contact the police on her coming up missing when the card arrived for Marina from Grandma Inglott. Then we knew she got married again and Daddy was furious.  He went through every possible man in her life from day one saying she was probably a damn liar for every one.  I just said I was glad she was alive."

GERRY: When I went  back to live with Father however, he was going to go to court over the financial settlement which was still pending. He had filed his charges so as to cause the judge to rule more favorably for him.  He tried to drag me into a number of nefarious activities. He insisted I sign stocks for example with her name so he could sell them.  I finally refused, so he signed them himself!

Post script: When I do the final version of my memoirs I will try to check and correct my version, but it is extremely difficult to get straight all that happened with five interacting daughters trying to prevent murder. Other sisters may come forth with even more info.
