Know Thy Enemy

In preparation for Sunday's game, I recently got Sportz Assassin of Sportzassassin.com and AOL Fanhouse to answer five questions about his beloved Redskins.

1) What kind of impact has Pete Kendall made for the Redskins both on the field and in the locker room?

Heck, he's been a huge acquision for the Redskins.  Not only did it plug an obvious hole in our line ... but been a godsend for a line that has been completely ravaged by injuries.  I can only imagine how bad the offense would be if we hadn't picked Kendall up when we did.

2) The Redskins have been playing musical chairs at the quarterback position for a long time. Is Jason Campbell going to be the guy who finally solidifies the spot?

I'd like to think so.  The main thing that impresses me is his poise.  He doesn't seem to be rattled [though that game with the Pats may look otherwise] despite what's going on around him.  He has a huge arm, but needs to work on his short range touch.  He also seems to be a very, very hard worker who is willing to put in the  time and effort to get better.  What does worry me is that Joe Gibbs isn't going to be around here much longer and I'm not sure where they may leave Campbell's development.

3) The last time Jets fans saw Jason Fabini, he was routinely getting beaten at tackle in 2005. He played a major role in all of the team's quarterback injuries that season. Has he been passable after moving inside to guard?

He's been alright, but the line ... as a whole ... has hurt the Redskins this season.  They bulldozed the Dolphins and Eagles but have fallen off in each game since.  Oddly enough, that's when Randy Thomas went out and Fabini stepped in.  Fabini has done a pretty good job at the guard spot in run blocking ... but we've had a bad time moving the football on the ground and now are struggling to pass protect.

4) Even though these teams only meet once every four years, a lot of men on these rosters have played for both teams. Which former Jet do you think carries the biggest chip on his shoulder entering this game?

I would think that Santana Moss would.  The Jets dealt him away for Coles, so that has to be a bit of a sore spot.  Especially when you figure that Moss has had a very poor season and is in dire need to get a break out game.

5) Can I get a prediction?

Sure.  I think the bad defensive showing against New England was just a fluke.  The offense did nothing for them and they were overmatched with no CBs against that stout receiving corps.  The Jets actually have a very decent set or receivers themselves and the big play is something the Skins needs to be weary of.   Still, I expect Gregg Williams will send the farm at Clemens and force him to beat us.

The difference is that I think Washington will be able to move the ball on the Jets.  The Jets are one of the worst run defenses in the NFL and the Skins can do enough against it to make the Jets pay.  Washington wins, 24-14

Huge thanks to Sportz for answering these questions.
