Mrs Job
I'd like to share this little nugget on suffering and it may not be one that we think too much about. We usually think of Job when we think of suffering and certainly he did but I'd like to consider his wife. She is not named and only remembered for her words spoken in a weak moment " curse God and die."
I'd like to meet Job's wife,if she made it to heaven, she went through all of the same things Job did except the sickness and she even went through that as it was her husband who was sick, she was his caregiver. Still, the thing people remember about her most is one line:"why not curse God and die." Granted that was soooo uncool to say the least but as I step back and put myself in that situation, although I want to be strong enough that it could never happen to me.. I do understand her feelings.. emotions had taken over.. Job's wife had just lost all her children, all the same possessions Job did, she did not have the bible to read and tell her "He will never leave you nor forsake you..." and her husand was as sick or sicker than anyone we have ever seen, she had to watch and take care of him and thinking the same fate may come to him as did their beloved children.. she may just lose him too. He could die also in this short span of time she would lose all her loved ones and everything she had. Plus, friends coming around talkin that talk.. Do you remember Sarah heard Abraham's conversation concerning her having a child and she laughed.. well it is too hard to imagine Job's wife probably heard the conversation between Job and his friends? With all she already had on her mind, hearing the not so encouraging words of his friends was not exactly uplifting!
Granted, she allowed the devil to use her there for a moment but which of us havent done the same thing unknowingly at some time, and still God forgave us? So I dont know, I think Im right but I may be wrong, I think its a strong chance that lady might have made it. The friends received correction from the Lord and Job was instructed to pra for them.
Mrs Job wasnt replaced as his wife and so she got to share in the blessings restored and running over to her husband Job. I like to hope that the goodness of God led to her repentance of words spoken in time of weakness.
So what do you think?
