Charles Stanley Sermon

'UNFORGIVENESS', Sermon by Charles Stanley.
I have great respect for Charles Stanley. Listened to him for years and have taken notes and have several Spiral Notebooks holding Sermons of Charles Stanley.
I am a Child of GOD, 87 years of age. I believe every word of the Holy Bible. I hold no grudges and have Prayed for Forgiveness for any and all whom have did me harm.
However, I have a Question for Charles Stanley :
If part of a family is murdered and the murderer is apprehended and held in Jail, and the survivors of the Family have Completely forgiven the murderer, would it Please GOD if the Survivors ask that the Murderer not be Prosecuted?
I was hoping that during the Sermon the subject of Prosecution would be addressed. Is Prosecution not Proper if the Survivors are carrying the Forgiveness to the extent of no Prosecution?
Should the Survivors not show up in Court as Witnesses?
Mr. Stanley, please explain your attitude on Prosecution.

NOTE FROM SAM : I have tried unsuccessfully to send this entry to
INTOUCH.ORG and it is not accepted. Quite an extensive reason it cannot be accepted.
I listen to Charles Stanley regularly and was hoping to be enlightened about prosecution if victims forgive. I do believe in Forgiveness though believe Criminals should be Prosecuted. I would like to know from Charles Stanley if he believes Forgiveness means no Prosecution.
Hopefully my Journal friends will comment on their personal opinion.

To be forgiven does not mean that they are exempt from punishment for what they did. That is what I think anyway. Just my little ole opinion.

To my knowledge it is the state that brings criminal charges, not the victims or their families. So in your example, prosectution would probably go forth, with or without thier help or cooperation. But the fact that they have forgiven by no means means the offender is any different that before. We, the elect, are forgiven and changed. This person could only be changed by knowing Christ as Savior. No amount of forgiveness from any Christian would ever change him alone. To not prosecute and carry out a just sentence would leave others at his whim and disposal. - Barbara

I kind of lean toward your thinking Sam. They still should be punished for what they have done. Helen
