Mailbag Time

Pink Floyd - Coming Back to Life

Well I have had a backlog of questions to answer.  So without further ado here we go....

Q:  Does Google Desktop Search log Triton conversations, like AIM 5.x?
A:  No, Google Desktop Search only logs conversations from AIM 4.x+.  This is because the search engine looks for conversations spawned from the aim.exe process.  With Triton our process name is aim6.exe.  Justin provided a further update on this tonight.

Q:  Is there an update on the Validating hang?
A:  The latest is that the language issue where any language setting in Windows that is not US-English may cause failures is getting fixed.  It is on the backend, so no new download of Triton is needed to fix this issue.  Hopefully this is pushed to production quite soon.  The other validating hang seems to be "fixed" when users install Nero 7.0.1.4.b.  This is not the final fix, just a temporary solution until we figure out the real problem.

Q:  Whats the deal with the systray in Triton, I see two icons sometimes they are different, one is an AOL logo, one is the AIM logo, sometimes I see two AIM logos?
A:  We are in the process of cleaning up the systray.  We are working on getting the systray icon to behave almost identical to AIM 5.x.  That includes a true right-click away solution.

Q:  Why does the log viewer have to be outside of Triton and JAMS?
A:  The log viewer that I wrote "inspired" the UI guys to write a logviewer for Triton.  This will be in a future release of Triton.

That's what I have time to get to this week.  If you have questions you can always send them to me in email or IM and I will try to answer them.  Next week Justin and I are headed to the west coast to visit our west coast office.  I will post some pictures when we get back.
