ETech Day 2
Ray Ozzie from Microsoft started off the day two showing the new live clipboard they are building. The Live Clipboard allows you to copy data from a client to the web, from the web to a client, and from one web page to another. A couple of examples of this would be copying contact data from your machine to the web via a single click, or copying an event from a web calendar to outlook. One catch to all of this is that Microsoft is forcing a standard upon web and client engineers if they want to implement this. The jury is still out if all these people will “toe-the-line.”
Another fascinating demo Ozzie showed the crowd involved taking his Windows Mobile device and loading up his Windows Live profile that then displayed his “live” location. This was pretty neat to see, when the location info was exposed to the live maps, where he can track the location of certain people he cares about. Very big brother/1984.
One great demo was a project done by NYU grad students of multi-touch screens. What this means is that you can have all ten fingers on a touch screen, and the touch screen will know what to do with all ten touch points. Here is a picture of their demo (Note the touch screen virtual keyboard):

Last but not least, Yahoo sponsored a party for everyone at
the conference tonight…
