If I were still in school, I would definitely be getting a lower grade for handing in this assignment late. I appologize for not getting to this sooner, unfortunately some stuff came up late last week and over the weekend I was too excited buoyed by my Orangemen getting off the schnide winning for the first time in over a year, then falling into a massive depression with the Skins getting rocked by the Cowboys last night. In any case, now that I am out of my football haze, on with the mailbag.
Q: Will there be more plugins released by the AIM team for Triton?
A: In the future I think we will see lots of plugins written by developers not just internally by AIM engineers. Remember anyone can write plugins for Triton using the Open AIM APIs. But, since you mentioned plugin releases, one new engineer on my team just released a plugin that shows you a custom view of your buddy list in the Google Desktop Sidebar. You can view your entire buddy list, or you can view the most frequent buddies you interact with. Double clicking on the buddy will open up an IM Window in Triton, while single clicking opens a flyout with the user's profile. Here is a screenshot of what the gadget looks like. You can download it here.

Q: Some of my buddies on my buddy list have custom buddy icons, but I don't see them in Triton. What's up with that?
A: There is a problem on the host where the client is not given all of the user's buddy icons. This should be fixed in the very near future.
Q: What is anotify.exe and why does it run all the time?
A: Anotify.exe is the process for toaster in Triton. It runs all the time in case we need to pop a toast notifying you of an AIM/AOL Alert you set up or a security/software update we just did. I cannot confirm nor deny that this will stay like this in the future.
Q: Will video interop ever happen between iChat and Triton? It works fine between AIM 5.x and iChat.
A: We continue to work with Apple to get this working. Hopefully we will have this all working in the very near future.
Q: Cutting and pasting makes the font revert back to Arial 10pt. font. Can this be fixed?
A: This is on the road map to be fixed in the next release cycle, hopefully we can get this fixed real soon.
Q: What's next?
A: Lots of great stuff. I don't want to spoil any of the real fun stuff, but we will have a bunch of great announcements surrounding Open AIM, in addition we will be officially putting in two features that users have been asking us for for a long long time. Triton will continue to get more performant, and the UI will continue to be refined. Lots of great engineers on the AIM team are working hard to get a new client out the door before to long, stay tuned.
Q: What kind of digital camera do you use?
A: Embarassingly I have an 4 mps Kodak Easy Share camera that I bought 3 years ago. It does the job though.
Q: Are you coming out to the west coast soon?
A: Wow, I am flattered, I did not know I was so missed in the Valley. I actually will be back there next week to attend Yahoo's Hack Day and to visit some Open AIM partners. If you will be at Yahoo's Hack Day let me know, we can meet up.
Last but not least my team went for some friendly Go Kart racing today at Allsports Grand Prix in Sterling, VA. The competition was fierce with at least one of us earning a black flag penalty for bumping, in the end though no one jumped out of the car like Ricky Bobby in Taladeaga Nights screaming for Tom Cruise's help.

Thanks for the updates. It's nice to be brought back into the loop a bit and know what's going on with the product. I hope that AOL not only appreciates the dedicated users who care enough to read this, but also the time you put in to keep us excited about Triton.

Hope all is going well. Where is that go-kart place? I so want to go.
