Ok, so its not that cold yet. By Wednesday the high temperature here in Boston is supposed to be 20 degrees, but after the weather we have been having in DC this winter, even 32 degrees, as it was today, is freakin freezing.
I just finished watching 24, and while I do not want to ruin it for the west coasters, the last ten minutes was unreal. Go Jack Bauer.
Back to why I am here in Boston, and did I mention it is freezing. Last July, Mashup Camp2 in California, was maybe the highlight of my conference tour last year. A developer only event, Mashup Camp, provides a manager-free environment, where we, the developers, can create some really neat software in a consequence free world. So when Mashup Camp 3 was announced, I pushed all-in. Here at MIT, many professors and students joined the fun, and seemed to really get into the AIM Pages/Microformats talk that Kevin Lawver gave and the Open AIM talk that I gave. Before we went up to talk though, we heard from MIT professors in the city design and planning department talking about FutureBoston and their plans to re-invest in making Boston a hotbed of tech activity again.
Tomorrow is a day to relax and listen to others present their APIs, before the full camp begins on Wednesday. Kevin and I will be leading a camp session called the Connection Between Desktop and Web on Wednesday at 3pm. Come by and check it out, there will even be some door prizes including iPods. The session will focus on how we bridge the gap between web sites/apps like AIM Pages and Web IM and client apps like AIM or the AIM APIs.
