Plugging in at FOWA

Incubus - Dig

Cheers from jolly old England.  Today at FOWA we got some great presentations from Michael Arrington of TechCrunch and Tara Hunt from Citzen Agency.  Michael gave a talk on the ins and outs of getting a startup off the ground.  Going over the common pitfalls that startups make, like taking too much funding, not scaling their software, and trying to be everything to everyone.  He also shared success stories of who else, but YouTube and others.

Tara is a great presenter.  Her background lends itself to understanding and dissecting communities.  She spent time sharing her thoughts on social and community tools on the web now and where we are headed.  Specifically, she concentrated on broad principals like Maslow's hierarchy of needs and how that drives people to sites like Flickr, MySpace, Facebook, AIM, etc.

Finally, I had a few spare moments yesterday to get around London and to check out a few famous sites.  Here are some pictures.  Later tonight I will get back to blogging on some helpful tips to building your AIM plugins.
