A Very Busy Friday
Friday, March 2, 2007
The past two days I have been chasing my tail fixing bugs for AIM 6.1 and getting a refresh out the door for AIM MusicLink. Before I get to those fun details, I wanted to share a few interesting tidbits I found this week.
*** While doing some research for my blog post on the future of news media, I stumbled across the travel reporters blog on the Washington Post. There was a blog post by John Deiner detailing the Top 20 travel web sites used in January. How many people would have guessed Mapquest would lead the way as the most popular web site? They beat out the likes of Expedia, Yahoo, Google and all of the airlines. Great job Mapquest.
*** For those of you asking about the Location Plugin not installing on Vista, we are working on getting a new build posted very soon.
*** I was sent a link by a co-worker this afternoon showing me the new beta webmail experience we have. You can test it out by going to http://beta.webmail.aol.com. Immediately obvious is the interface is much nicer, and definitely performs faster than the old webmail page. Here is a link to the product insider blog for webmail.
Now onto AIM MusicLink. Thank you everyone for the feedback, as you know earlier this week I fixed the Vista install problem, today I flushed out some other issues reported.
- Added a preference to not add hyperlink to your profile. I will still add the song, but it will not hyperlink if this pref is set.
- Sharing music in your status message and profile are on by default now, so you no longer need to open the user interface to set the preferences for MusicLink to start doing its thing.
- Removed two annoying install dialog boxes popping up during install.
- Uninstall now unregisters the MusicLink dll
- Only one MusicLink window will open no matter how many times you open the MusicLink window
- MusicLink can now be loaded from the settings button in the plugin prefs.
You can download AIM MusicLink 1.0.0.4 here. As always feedback is appreciated.
