EMail Plugin and Location Update

Angels and Airwaves

Good morning everyone.  Hopefully everyone had a great weekend and now that March is here thoughts can turn to spring, golf, baseball and lacrosse.  Over the weekend we launch a new plugin, and updated two others.

Mail Plugin
-------------------------------
Receive notifications of new messages from your favorite webmail provider right inside AIM. This Mail Plugin is made up of a main plugin and account implementations. Each account implementation will give you notifications for a certain webmail provider. GMail is provided right now but more account providers will follow.

This plugin is built with enough flexibility so we can add support for other providers like Hotmail and Yahoo in the near future.  Here are a couple of screenshots:

If your an internal AOL employee and you are interested in making the plugin work with other mail services, just contact me.

Facebook Plugin
-------------------------------
We have uploaded a new version of the Facebook Plugin so it can still log into Facebook after they made some changes to their login form.  For a quick refresher on the Facebook Plugin:

The Facebook Plugin allows you to receive Facebook updates right on your desktop. You will be notified with a link if any of the following occurs:

  • Someone writes on your Wall
  • Someone sends you a message
  • A friend updates their profile
  • Someone writes on a friend's Wall

You can select which notifications you wish to receive as well as how often to check Facebook for updates.

Location Plugin
-------------------------------
Lots of people have mentioned the Location Plugin is not working with AIM 6.1 nor is it working on Vista.  Both of these issues have been fixed, however the Skyhook integration is not yet working for Vista.

As always feedback is appreciated.  I also have taken note of the issue with AIM MusicLink not saving the "hyperlink" preference, thanks MBurl715 for finding that problem.  I will try and get a fix out for that later this week.

Also, the link that popups when I have a GMAIL message does not work. (Could this be because I have Firefox set as my default Browser?)

yeah, for the facebook plugin - Its not allowing me to log in. I type in my info, and hit ok, and get an "Error Logging into Facebook" Message.
I am using the newest beta.
IS anyone else having this problem?
