Location Plugin Press

Sick Puppies

We got a little location plugin love today from the Associated Press.  What was even more strange, last night our local Fox affiliate made the location plugin the number 4 item in the "5 Things You Need to Know" at the 11 o'clock news.  Ever since we launched the plugin in January with the Skyhook integration, it seems more people have found this technology useful.  I am posting a new map that was captured this morning, that shows peak usage per state, here in the US.  The location plugin does work worldwide.  As a reminder,Yellow is best, then green, then red, then blue.

March 2007

compare that to...
January 2007

Keep in mind that the APIs we used to build the plugin, are available free to the Open AIM development community.  Currently the plugin works with AIM 6.0 and AIM 6.1 and as always feedback is appreciated.

    Hey Mr. D.G.
The only way people see your location is if YOU ADD THEM to your buddy list.  Heck can you imagine the stalker factor if it was the other way around.  Chris Hanson from Dateline NBC's "To Catch a Predator" would have a field day.  Thanks, as always for the witty posts.

Hmmm...so if I use the locator plugin, I'll be exposing my street address to Internet users who add me to their AIM buddy list?  Yikes.

Perhaps next, you'll write a plugin to share the names and descriptions of all the teenagers who live at my address.

What's up with the color scheme?  Yellow is "best" (or most?).

Then on top of that...green, red, then blue?  Might want to reconsider the order so that they make more sense...
