Wednesday, March 28, 2007 Doing releases of both AIM Lite and AIM 6.1 on the same day is rough.  In addition we had a little celebration at the Caps/Penguins hockey game last night so I could not get to blogging on AIM 6.1 yesterday.

So basically we promoted the Beta 3 client we released last week to GM yesterday, so you can now download that client from aim.com instead of beta.aol.com.  In addition there is a hidden goody in the GM client that may be of interest to a few of you.

Go to your install directory of aim 6.1 which should be c:\program files\aim6 and navigate to C:\Program Files\AIM6\services\imApp\ver6_1_32_1\content\bl.  Open up blGadgets.box and search for "theme/black".  The first instance you find in that file, go up one line above that text and change "collapsed=true" to "collapsed='false'".  In addition if you want to see a cool transition when changing between skins, open up C:\Program Files\AIM6\services\imApp\ver6_1_32_1\content\bl\bl.js and change g_bNoSkinTransitions from "true" to "false".  The results look something like this:
