Web 2.0 Expo Review

I got back late last night from San Francisco, and really enjoyed my week out there.  It was great seeing some former colleagues and friends like Colin, Justin, and Jim D.  I was pleasantly surprised at the overflow crowd at my session, and really enjoyed the time I spent with our Open AIM partners.  However, the conference was a little thin on material.  Web 2.0 was sold as being a 1400 person conference full of primarily developers and product managers, but what we saw was 10000 people who were marketing and business folks.  It is sort of anti-climatic when we release some great stuff at the conference like a new Open AIM SDK and openAuth, yet people came up to us asking what a mashup was.  While there were technologists at the conference, it definitely felt like some of the sessions were re-hashes of previous presentations and of "older" technologies.  Overall it was a great trip out west, and interfacing with folks from Google, Yahoo, EBay, and others always inspires me to write some cool new plugins.  Here are some pictures I took at during the week.  The trip went as far south as the beach in Aptos all the way to Crissy Field and the Presidio.

Nice picture of the hotel crapper.  Very exotic.  I guess you left your fart in San Francisco.
