Friday, April 20, 2007 Earlier this week ICQ released its ICQ6 client.  This release is a new path for ICQ, with the new user interface built from Boxely and yet all the same ICQ goodness underneath the hood.  The design is similar to AIM Lite.  ICQ6 works on XP and above and is of course interoperable with AIM and iChat.  To see the full feature list, including some stuff they are working on in the near future click here.  The screen capture below shows video from my iChat client to ICQ6.

  Not only is the service a dinosaur, but ICQ has been the perfect example of what not to do with an IM client. Look at that banner ad in the IM window. That's insane. I really wonder why AOL continues to maintain two networks.
