Feeling Hopeful
Hearing When I see you smile

At last, Ladies & Gents ... the 542nd!

This group deployed recently from North Fort on a cool Autumn day, as their loved ones stood close holding on to every moment they had to share.

Families came from near and far.  A large response to this departure, and so filled with love that I had to make sure to get as many hugs in for them as possible.

You are all a wonderful group of people, with great families.  Hold tight to that, and send all the photos and messages you want.  as long as AOL can keep the journals functioning (this week was rough, not being able to publish!) I will post all of your words and wishes and pictures.

Enjoy, and please leave a message for your loved ones, or the group as a whole.

Have as happy a Thanksgiving as possible.  i will be at the PX, the day after, come b y and say "hi", if you're local.

**And don't forget!  We NEED your help.  To make sure that every soldier who has been adopted for HeroToHero.us gets a hero's shirt, we need you to get our website to your local fire and police!  Or get us the contact info, and we will do the work for you, but we need your input!

Be blessed!

lj

ps ... Still are some glitches.  I can arrange and rearrange the pix all night, but they still go in randomly.  For those who were there, you know the order, for the rest, as long as you feel the heart in the photos, it's all good!

Feeling Happy
Hearing Desert Rose

Greetings from the "Sandbox"

Well folks, here are the latest from our very own.

Looks like they are settling in, and getting acclimated to their new surroundings.  Proabably won't find them clearing leaves out of the drains, or making sure the rain gutters work.  But they are more than likely finding some challenges of their own out there.

Feel free to send your comments, they post right here, and your loved one can read them and post back if they like.  You can use nicknames if it makes you more comfortable.

We will post photos as we receive them, so send them on.  This is YOUR photosite!

And to all of the troops, please take care of each other.  Let me know when you need coffee!

We miss you all already,

Be safe

lj

Feeling Hopeful
Hearing The very thought of you

Tears, and cheers, and feeling proud

Today, more families gathered to send their loved ones off secure in the knowledge that they are loved deeply.

Children scampered about about, for the most part oblivious to the impending farewells.

Husbands and wives stayed in close formations, sweethearts snuggled, and comrades laughed and joked, as usual.

This is a deployment, and aside from the actual deployment, this is one of the hardest days for many of these families.

We all took lot of photos, and filled out cards to hometowns, reminding them of the need for continued support for our deployed troops.

The troops were assembled, and the moment built to the inevitable boarding of the buses.

The soldiers hang tough, holding on to their military bearing, and the families let loose the emotion for them.

Some of these are young, very young men and women ... and this is hard!  For others, it is just another rotation, they are career, and this is part of the process.

We send our love, our prayers, and our faith with these men and women as they deploy.  We send our strength, and support to their loved ones.  God bless you all!

Enjoy the photos, and please feel free to post a message.
This is YOUR photo journal, send pictures, or thoughts, any time you like!

Stay strong,

Liz ... and the Angels of Hero To Hero

ps ... Start rubbing those HeartStones!  And let us know when you need more Starbucks.

Feeling Hopeful
Hearing We've only just begun

And so it begins ...

These photos were taken in the wee hours, just before the 21 CTC boarded their plane that would take them to the desert.

We would like to thank Colonel Herting, Captain Owen, and the fine men and women of this unit for allowing us to share this time with them.

As most of you know, this unit has been officially adopted by HeroToHero.us for this year's shirt drive.

During the time we shared, troops filled out cards to their hometown first responders asking them to step up, represent for hometown troops, and give the shirt off their backs for our deployed troops.

I will be posting some of those messages for you all to read.  We ask family members to stay in contact with us, and make hometown connections as well.

We also began a new tradition with this unit.  Aside from making sure they had Starbucks coffee available for the taking, we introduced "Remember the troops".  We brought out our small toy soldiers, and provided tags for messages.  The soldiers wrote their hometown, their name and unit, and a message, before tying that message to the small soldier.  You'll need to get involved to see what they wrote.  We will be doing this from here on, with fire and police as well!  This was fun!

This is your page!  We encourage you to send and share your photos, stories, and messages.

We want to see soldiers during the deployment, loved ones back home, shirts when they arrive, special events, school pix of the kids ...

We hope you will post messages, and keep this journal alive and well for your families to share.

You can send photos and messages for posting to ... HeroShirts@aol.com.  Messages can be posted directly to the journal.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Any of you wishing to be added to our mailing/volunteer list, can also do so at that same email address.

We reserve the right to delete any info that might jeopardize OpSec ... security and morale should always be priorities.

So here you go ... Welcome aboard 44 CSB!

lj

We accept your special photos with messages ... feel free to send them to us, and we will post.
