The Biggest Game of the Season
I admit it, I am happy to have this game this week. When the season started, I didn't figure that the Giants would be in contention for anything but a .500 record. The fact that they can catch Dallas for the division lead with a win on Sunday is great news.
What's great about this game is how similar the two teams are. Both teams are getting great quarterback play. Quit laughing, you Eli haters. Manning has shown a maturity as this season has progressed. He doesn't always put up great numbers, but he has done what 's been needed to win. He's a deep thrower and will have one turnover a game. It does look as if he's starting to come into his own. Romo has had a great season and is probably the Cowboys' MVP.
Both teams use multiple running backs in a pounding ground game. The Giants use Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward and Reuben Droughns like Dallas uses Marion Barber and Julius Jones. Both teams can run even when their opponents know it's coming.
Both teams have pass catching tight ends. While I don't like Jeremy Shockey's antics at times, he is one of the better tight ends in the league. Jason Witten killed the Giants in the Week One matchup in Dallas. He may be the best tight end in the league.
Terrel Owens vs. Plaxico Burress. Both are talented and both have had games where they didn't appear to interested in football. Owens led the league in dropped passes last year and Burress gave up on more plays than a narcoleptic drama critic. Both are playing well this year. Burress is having his best season ever and Owens seems to like playing for Wade Phillips.
Defensively, both teams have good defensive lines. I think the Giants have a better pass rush as their tackles also get good pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Dallas has better speed at the linebacking positions, but I think the Giants are surer tacklers. Both teams are weak in the defensive backfield with Dallas having safeties who hit hard but can't cover worth a damn.
I think the game will come down to the wire. The key for both teams is the Giants defensive line. If the Giants get pressure on Romo and contain him, they will win. If Romo proves elusive under pressure he will get Dallas into field goal position late for Nick Folk. There's a big difference. If it comes down to a late field goal, Folk makes it, Tynes.....
I think the Giants will contain Romo effectively and will pound the ball on offense. Giants 27-21.

Recently Eli's play action fakes have been excellent, helping Jacobs runs as well, since he is a threat to blast off 20 yards on any given play. Close game to call. I hope Tynes is up to the job if it comes down to him.
