If Only 'The Office' Were All Black...

What is the single most important thing for a company? Is it the building? Is it the stock? Is it the turnover? It's the people. The *people*. My proudest moment here wasn't when I increased profits by 17%, or cut expenditure without losing a single member of staff. No, no, no, no. It was a young Guatemalan guy, first job in the country, hardly spoke a word of English, but he came to me and he went "Mr. Scott, will you be the Godfather to my child?" Didn't work out in the end. We had to let him go. He sucked. -Michael Scott (Steve Carell's character on 'The Office.')

If you slave away at a traditional 9-5 office job, then trust me, you can probably relate to 'The Office,’ on NBC.

Even though the UK version is funnier at times, Steve Carell is pretty brilliant as the role of Michael Scott, the regional manager of Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company.

The 1999 cult classic 'Office Space' and 'The Office' on NBC are such hits because who can't relate to those days where you just want to destroy the printer because it prints out 100 copies of a document instead of one (Sorry, AOL, my bad!).

How about the awkwardness and inconvenience of sexual harassment and diversity training?

If you have been fortunate enough to not find yourself in such a situation, trust me, it’s coming, and it won't be pretty.

But after watching 'The Office' and working here at Black Voices, I got the thinking...

...could you imagine a black version of 'The Office?'

Taking the same witty humor on ‘The Office,’ and integrating that with an all black office staff from the top to the bottom.

If there is a struggling  writer out there who is looking for that one idea to strike it rich, this is the idea for you.

All I ask for is 10 percent and a role on the show as the wise-cracking know-it-all intern.

And if you need any other inspiration for a character or two, holla at me …  I have the cast for you!

I should state that the 10 person, mulitmillion dollar company was owned and operated by a black man.  It was very prestigous.

I worked in an all black (execpt for the sales guy that I hired) office and things were just fine.  In fact, I loved working with a "homogeneous" group of people and everything ran smoothly, despite our real diversity.  Honestly, if it weren't for September 11th, I'd probably still be working there.

...And the white guy, he knew where to stop with the banter that they do.  There was never any "So, how was your weekend?" crap and most of us got along just fine 99% of the time.

Okay the Office is hysterical!!! Love it Love it. And it would work with an all black cast. Some critique would be necessary..but remember Carlton playing the white black guy role to Will's (Will Smith) street Phily guys routine. There was nothing funnier than the Carlton dance. He was obviously ethnic, but totally discounted as being just what his character was, but funny!!

Bernie Mac is a legend and his show is superbly designed to break it all down to a level you can idetify with and laugh at because it's so real The EVIL Vanressa could be any ones adolescent she-devil. And the way he says her name (NESSA)is live a chant and ward off the evil spell charm all in one. The show is perfect to laugh off all your stress be fore retiring to bed. WHEN YOU CAN FIND IT...!!!!

Black programming, sinece the 80's is an endangered species. We will have to do more than create  new shows, we'd better start actually owing the networks. Ase A shows being extremely creatiive or funny does not guarantee that it will remain on TV for any length of time if it is more than 15 percent black  in cast. God forbid that they are anything other than funny or the support to the lead to begin with. And stop the press if they actually have all the and noit have to okay them to you know who W_ _ _ _ _.

And oh yes if someone ever write the counterpart to the office with an all black cast, and if they some of them happen to come in late, that would be all the better becasue sometime's its just the truth. hahahahahahahahaha!!!

my people this post was funny and i did not see no one use the word hate i like that thats smart and all of you are right we need to stick together and come out with our own things its enough blacks that are rich that can pull it all together the first thing you would here is oh we was poor and we struggled to make it to the top thats why none of us could help if we could do it they could do it to well guess what your ancestors are not here any moore and all of them got beat hung raped stripped out their names took from their parents and their kids were took from them in order for us to be where we are today martin luther king suffered then got killed for you why can't you do it for love and not feeling before martin died blacks had their own stores offices their were doctors lawyers and they stuck together back then a lot of us need a reality check iam not a ignorant black i know the truth but you got some blacks they are just gone and don't want to know the truth you got blacks think they are better than other blacks because of their skin tone the parents of today do not teach their kids like they taught their kids in the 30,40,50,60 and you got some real old people that were born back in the 30 and 40 and their just as messed up against their own race as they are today with the black on black racism oh she to black and a lot of blacks believe if you are dark skinned your ugly and if your light skinned your cute or pretty you could have the same features as beonce but if you are dark skinned with the same feature you would be ugly we need moore dark skinned ladies in the music industry to set an example for the up coming talent in the world so that the message won't be sent out to the black community in that way and with all the baby daddy baby mamma drauma needs to stop oh its so messed up that situation causes so much hate against each other can we fix this
