Fresh New Face in 'Lincoln Heights'

It’s been hard to miss the number of advertisements the last couple of weeks on AOL Black Voices for ‘Lincoln Heights’ which debuts tonight on ABC Family.
Luckily for the advertisers who paid good money for ad space, ‘Lincoln Heights’ is one of the brand new shows for 2007 that is actually compelling and features a predominantly black cast.
You have to remember that the show is on ABC Family which was originally founded by televangelist Pat Robertson in 1977.
So no sex. No blood. No cursing.
(People do get shot, however)
That’s quite a challenge for a show about a cop’s family moving back to its hometown of Lincoln Heights and facing the same struggles that forced him to leave his old neighborhood.
Russell Hornsby plays Eddie Sutton, a Los Angeles police officer who balances the duties and responsibilities of being a cop along with raising a family.
With a growing family and a lack of space, he decides to move his family back to his hometown of Lincoln Heights as he buys a former crack house and decides to convert it into a livable situation.
But as Hornsby finds out, neighbors aren't too fond of having the police living next door.
Thirteen episodes have been ordered for ‘Lincoln Heights’ which airs on Monday at 7:00p.m. and hopefully ABC Family will order more for the future.
It’s a perfect family show for you and the kids which is starting to become more and more rare with today’s programming on TV.

Well, well, well! I stumbled across your journal quite by accident because I've been following the media on Rosie Fat Ass Vs Donald the Mouth. I'm also sorry to say I have no idea who you are and quickly glancing, I thought was a "black column fo' black fo'ks". After reading a little deeper, I realized that you've got some good things going for you. Granted, I haven't read anything in depth, but I"m going to go deeper tomorrow and check you out.
You've got the Rosie deal nailed and I'm really surprised you've got the balls to call a spade a spade (no pun intended) in your assessment of Star "Me " Jones. It's a shame some talented people can't just play it like everyone else.
There comes a time you just got to "tell it like it is" (no pun intended). Especially in today's world that you can't speak to another human being and just say, would you mind getting off my fucking toe man? That's not degrading anyone and has nothing to do with anything except your standing on my toe, Get Off!
I'm quite sure I've made your day now that I have commented on your journal, me being the well known personality that I am, but I do have a journal and I post daily. So far it's been refreshing and I'll be back to get a little deeper into your mind, but for now, I don't think everyone hates Marcus, at least not yet.
Keep it up man! I like your style and I'll be back to see you. I'm on aol journals so if you want to look, go for it. -
I watched it tonight and thought it was well done.
I just hope it doesn't suffer the same fate as one of the last black drama's we had on television, which got me all excited "City of Angels", and instead has a run like say a "Soul Food".
Why do predominantly black dramas have such a bad track record with dramas? -

Looking forward to it and glad to see that asisde from all of the ads, that you gave it some shine. ;-) Tonight however I need to check out I luv NY, and TIVO what looks like a funny as hell "wife swap" and then check out The White Rapper show on VH1-why don't you provide your commentary on that next? :-)
