Turkish Exhibition

Well...we had a great time and a start of things in Turkey...I am now in the process of writing my new, (and first), book...it started, well, it all started over there in Turkey while visiting a place that I consider a sanctuary where I become a pilgrim, that place is Haghia Sophia, one of the oldest churches in Christiandom, built by Emperor Constantine in the heart of Constantinople and it is still there in all her glory...art was everywhere and we did several small showings with much success...write me for more information on Bodo art and on Turkey...and music, well, we are rolling...write to us at DearPrudenceAJA@aol.com

Inspiration

Well...as a part of AJA, I played in Barcelona recently...AND I LOVED IT! I mean I really relished every single note because each note made each second of time there extremely lovely...It was an ispiration...I brought along my Italian football (calcio) jersey, although I am part Aragonese, (the kingdom that ruled over the condal city of Barcelona), and part Piedmontese...playing music in a place that you love makes the experience turn into something almost spiritual...and I was invited to exhibit my art work in one of those art space cafes or bars that have become so prevalent all over Europe and in the USA...if it wasn't because right now I am planning some "big" things somewhere else...yet, it is very difficult for an artist to turn down a show, an exhibition, especially in a city that I love, actually Barcelona is my favourite city...I'll let you know if I am going to exhibit there well in advance so maybe you can go and see the paintings...and talking about the paintings, I have finally "updated" my web site, so go and check it out: www.bodoart.com I think it'll blow your mind...and wait for my new AJA CD...

Oh yes!!! We are doing some new things!!! We will be telling you more and more about this "new thing"...but suffice it to say, for now, that it is called "Cat Cat Catalunya!!! So...enough for now? Just what is ART???

Art is probably, next to the concept of the Deity, the most confused "thing" that is still talked about by humans...amazing!!! This society, that boasts of modernity, is really very backwards, it lacks a concept of art, of beauty, of literature, poetry...those "backward, obscure" people of the medieval times, took time to enjoy, to discuss, to live, artistic expression, artists were considered as prophets, as priests, as special people that had something to say and people were more than willing to listen, albeit, with an analytical mind...ART, then...is a major item, no doubt about it...art is the expression of the most core and fundamental aspects of humanity...and the focus is expression, for artistic expression is the only difference between "real" art and the disciplines of design and decoration, not to say that those subject areas are meaningless, but the intention is completely different...art is made to express the deep, profound emotions of the soul, and the spirit, while design and decoration is created to sell items, they must be beautiful, functional and cost effective...art is nothing but the opposite...however, how many real artists are "really" out there practising the reality of art when in this society the meaning of things have been forgotten? Who then is a real artist, and how? Why? Where? Speak up, please...on the next issue, we shall discuss, not the "expression" as we have this time, but the "fundamental aspects of humanity".
