I'm used to it, I like high-low games, I should have an edge, how bad could Riverchasers be?
I forgot how utterly infuriating O8 and Stud/8 can be when you miss huge draws.
I did finish 10th of 54, so I get a handful of points - but geez was it a roller coaster.
start with 1500, drop to 1K, fluff up to 3, down to 1500, back up to 9K, back down to 6K, then a slow bleed to nothingness by the second break. It wasn't hard to chip up bit by bit, but I kept losing or chopping all the big pots.
Twice, in Stud/8 I have a huge low draw in a multiway pot against an obvious high and weaker low, shove like crazy on fourth - then go brick brick brick and watch the high call down and scoop when none of the two lows hit.
People play these split pot games strange - obvious value bets missed on rivers, obvious river value bets called with weak bluff catchers at best, sticking around with a high-only hand against multiple low boards/draws (why am I talking about my play, lolz) - I remembered that the odd lines taken by most NLHE players in split pot games can drive you absolutely batshit. The variance involved when properly playing two-way draws in these games just kills you when whiff everything
Then with two tables left I can't scoop anything to save my life while watching the Lucko show of starting good or running good to scoop every chip on the table. I finally start doubling through at O8 a couple of times before openraising QQ26 with 4K behind at 250/500, getting called by AT86 in the blinds and losing on a 874T2 board, I think - (check/I bet/call flop, check/I bet/raise/ick I threebet shove all in turn)
Meh. I just barely played ok - prolly sucked as bad as everyone else out there.
But at least I did something semi positive this week, though no cashes.
Be back next week, gone camping..
