Tabitha, Girl Scouts, and Ceramics
Tabitha is really thriving in Girl Scouts. She started selling cookies this week and threw herself into it with utter enthusiasm. Tabby carries the order form around with her almost everywhere. She is such a little business woman. She sold over 100 cookie boxes her first day! She is very motivated to earn badges, and drags out her badge book and badgers (heehee) me to help her find something to do. I think Tabby will have almost fourteen badges completed by her badge ceremony next month. Saturday she spent hours poring over old National Geographics for pictures of pottery. She cut them out and pasted them in her GS journal, labeling them. What impressed me was that the next day she informed an adult friend of mine that a piece of pottery at the dojo was Blue Willow. She had put it in her journal the day before. :-) Today her pottery class started back after the holiday break. Tabby brought home a pinch pot, several "stones" for hiding keys, and a whimsical frog. Tabby explained to me what slip is and how to repair broken clay. The girls have also been taking ceramics for six years at Ann's Ceramic Getaway, so she has extensive experience in painting bisqueware and cleaning greenware. Both Mandy Mae and Tabby have filled our home with their ceramics. We are using the Girl Scout Badge book almost exclusively for Tabby's curriculum this year, as she is resistant to formal school work. We are blessed by a wonderful leader and a fun homeschool GS troop. Unschooling at its best!!
