Eco-Action Girl Scout badge

Shelby finally fell asleep--on her back--so she has been asleep for a good hour.  I am too tired to sleep, myself!  I felt SO MUCH better after talking to my friend Laura today. It is so valuable to have other moms who have experienced the same thing to comfort and support you. I always feel like such a Bad Mommy when one of my kids gets hurt, even when it is such a weird, freak accident. (She was in my arms when she stuck out her foot and broke her leg!!)

Tabby spent the afternoon working on her Eco-Action badge.  Her little friend Stephen (the one who was removed from his parents for abuse and was also shot by his brother!!)
was here visiting.  I wish I could adopt him.  I told him that today and his whole face lit up. Stephen is here every day after school.  He told me he thought his grandma would let him spend the night.  I told him my grandmothers were very important to me when I was growing up. His Grandmother has breast cancer.  Stephen helped Tabby decorate many, many paper bags with recycling and environmental messages. We will be dropping them off at Krogers and Wild Oats.  We are also prowling around the house checking the wattage on everything for another badge requirement.  She got a little grumpy at all the electrical appliances we have--but that in itself is educational.
