Valentine Exchange through KY homeschool
"I hope all of the children enjoy the Valentine Card Exchange. Please have every child prepare a Valentine for every childon the list. Then all the children will receive the same number of Valentines they send out. Put the child's name on the card that is for them. If there is more than one child in a family put all the Valentines in one envelope and mail to that family. Or if there is one child in a family just mail to that child. Following is the address for each family and the name(s) of the children. Lisa "
My girls had a great deal of fun with this--particularly the receiving part! It was so much fun to open the mailbox and find it stuffed full of Valentines all week long. They received over thirty Valentines each. We sent out quite an eclectic collection of Valentines to the kids on the list--Sponge Bob Square Pants, 98 degrees, animal Valentines and insect Valentines. We didn't go about organizing the mailing/stuffing envelopes very well. Tabitha got frustrated trying to separate all the Valentines into the piles they belonged to. I helped her, but next year we decided that we will write one family's Valentines at a time, then address the envelopes! I want to find a national homeschooling Valentines exchange next year as well. It was fun, and it was also good practice learning to address envelopes.
One practice I had forgotten was the custom of putting stamps on upside down or writing the address upside down to say "I love you". I was tickled to be reminded of this!
