Hi Kathy. When we first met you, I believe Mandy was just turning 7. Now she's 16! WOW! That is so amazing. The girls already have plans to be spending the night somewhere, but thanks for the birthday party invitation. Carl told me that he saw Mandy at TaeKwon Do several weeks ago and that she was very sweet and gave him a big hug. I hardly go there anymore, especially since they moved to Newport. Carl came very close to quitting - he has had a really hard time with his back and knees. His body shouldn't really do such a jerky activity. But he really enjoys sharing it with Jessie and Weston and doesn't want to give it up. So he continues (and the injuries will too.) Jessie should have her Black Belt in June, I think. She's really lovely to watch doing her forms. She has such grace from dance and combines that with a lot of practicing at home. She does a really good job and loves it a lot. I hate watching her spar. I've only been there once or twice when she was sparring other kids and she had only sparred for a few weeks at that time. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad now. . She won't let me watch her spar adults. She told me a couple months ago that one of her goals was to get a point against Doug in sparring. I don't know if she has yet. I have seen him spar - he is scary.
I enjoyed that homeschooling journal e-mail that you sent a while back. I especially liked the entry about Tabby's breastfeeding memories. I think of it often while Griffin is nursing and wonder if he's thinking about his mama loving him. That was such a sweet story.
I have wondered for a long time if you would be interested in sitting down with Leah and Jessie and me and giving us a crash course in Scottish history. I figure that you probably know as much about it as any book I could get and it would be a lot more fun learning it from you. Let me know what you think about that.
Well, I'd better go. Wish Mandy a Very Happy Birthday from the Joneses.
Love, Jenny
