Feeling Mischievous
Hearing zydeco
Tom and Linda Parr (my oldest daughter's biological aunt and uncle) arrived at Mandy's birthday party, having a serious subject they wished to discuss. It seems that on Christmas Day they were having a family get together when one of their guests happened to look out the window at their tastefully decorated yard. "Why", they ventured to ask, "Does that reindeer have plastic tulips hanging out of it's mouth?" Immediately The Parrs thought of our family. It is true that those very same tulips have been passing between the two families for over seventeen years now. The Parrs started it, planting them haphazardly the first year I planted bulbs in my yard. I ventured out one morning to check on the progress of my eagerly anticipated flowers, and found these tulips straggling all over the yard, while the curtains across the street twitched suspiciously. That was over seventeen years ago! Later they were returned to The Parrs, and the raggedy Tulips have been passed back and forth for years, through two moves to different homes...once I sent them to Jennifer when she was in the hospital. I managed to convince the owner of Fort Thomas Florist to put them in a bouquet of otherwise fresh and lovely flowers. :-) They have returned to us in a bouquet for Shelby's birth....I assume we will see them again some time.
What was funny is that we slunk over there around midnight on Christmas Eve to put them in the yard. We dressed in black and at first thought about putting them in the evergreen window wreaths. What we didn't know is we narrowly escaped being picked up by the police! The Parrs had asked the police to make extra driveby's because someone had cut their yard lights...it would have been embarrassing to be arrested.
