A beautiful speech by Nick Berg's father
http://www.moveon.org/hooded/bergstatement.pdf
This made me weep.
My dear friend, the perfect Uncle Dave, asked me the other day why I drive myself to tears daily reading about the war, looking at terrible pictures, listening to the news. My husband admits he likes to read about Viet Nam and watch movies about other wars, but not this one.
Ghandi once said that "Non-cooperation with evil is a duty." As long as I know that these terrible things are happening, if I choose to stick my head in the sand and spare myself nightmares, then I am complicit in the deaths of our soldiers and the people that are dying over there.
Every child that dies in Iraq is my child.
Every soldier that dies--on either side--is my son or daughter.
