Feeling Happy

A lively afternoon

When solving problems, dig at the roots instead of just hacking at the leaves.

-  Anthony J. D'Angelo

Devin spent the afternoon with us, even accompanying us to the car wash.  I was busy vacuuming the van out when I heard Devin exclaim, "Be careful!"  I looked over and my little monkey Tabitha had somehow shimmied up on top of the building's roof. She was perched happily about fifteen feet off the ground. I did not watch her get down.

She has been climbing lots of trees lately, too. When we were down at Red River Gorge a rock climber told me that she would be a natural. She is fearless and incredibly coordinated.

I just don't want to look.

David drove down to our River property, The Big Toe, to check it out. He said the Licking River is still up very high.

Mandy had a great time salsa dancing. She is the only person there under thirty, but is having a lot of fun. I am proud of her for going some place alone and with no teens...I would not have been that brave at sixteen!

After Mandy finished dancing we went over to Melissa's house. Her new house is so pretty! It was nice to visit with Pam and my old friends for awhile, even though I got very lost in all the cul-de-sacs coming home. I miss seeing them almost every day like we did when David--her son--was still homeschooling.

We  stopped on the way home when a cat was out in the middle of the road. I thought it had been hit, but it had a mouse. It dropped the mouse and scurried under a car. Mandy checked on the cat. I followed the wee beastie into the grass and saw it was okay. I waited until it was safe before getting back into the car, probably to the puzzlement and frustration of the drivers behind me. Must be our month to rescue mice from cats!

I was a climber too. It was just fun to do and the view always was different than what I was used to. Keep her hands strong so she doesn't fall. xoxo
