Feeling Mischievous

Atticus, my furry whiskey-eyed man

I realized that I had not posted any pictures of the other main man in my life, Atticus.  He is a fawn brindle greyhound whom we adopted four years ago.  At the time he had just been retired from the track--so he must have been incredibly fast since the racing career of most racing greyhound is measured in months, not years.  He is a very sweet gentleman, very dignified most of the time, and has very few vices.  He does like to eat pencils, carrying them off jutting jauntily from his mouth as though he was smoking a cigar.

Does anyone know how to get the "animal eye" out of the pictures?  Red-eye reduction didn't work, and so I could not show you his lovely amber eyes. I call him my whiskey eyed boy.

He acclimated very quickly to being a pet, but it was a full year before his true personality really showed.  He is so sweet.

Aww, isn't he gorgeous?  I've thought about adopting a greyhound, but although I'm told they adapt well to apartment living, I'm afraid my three geriatric kittens would never recover.  Maybe someday, and in the meantime, I'm glad people like you are watching out for them!
I love his name, too, after a real hero!
I have the same problem taking flash pictures of my babies.  I haven't figured out a way to not end up with what I call "devil cats."

aw Kas, Atticus is gorgeuos! such a sweet face, wonderful photos!    I love the fawn brindles, we saw a few at Dewey Beach.  Our grey is all fawn, he reminds most people of a deer.  They are so sweet and dignified, yet can be silly and goofy too!  Our grey steals my little one's stuffed animals all the time (even though he has a basket of his own) and hides them in his kennel, which I keep upstairs.  When I tried to take his kennel down he got upset, so I leave it up and he still uses it 2 years after we got him, I find all kinds of treasures he hides in there ;-)    Mine is only 4, he was retired at 2 from a New Hampshire track.
