Feeling Happy

Very Nice Police Captain called

A very nice Newport police captain called to discuss what happened last week when I parked in the loading zone.  He was very kind, and understood why I was so afraid.  He said it sounded "awful."

On my part, I said that I do respond very much to large physically intimidating men and it was quite possible that the traffic officer did not know that he was scaring me.  He took a step closer, I would back up.

There is no real excuse for the eye rolling and the other behavior, but the man is just human, like we all are.  Everyone has bad days, and he caught me when I was feeling vulnerable. He probably intimidates people without being aware of it.  Unfortunately, there are times that this will protect him, and times it will provoke others to attack him, and times it will scare middle aged mothers.

I do not hold grudges.

He said that they were going to refund my ticket. :-)  That is also very nice. I told him that if they have a fund for the family of fallen officers that he could just donate it there, but he said that he would prefer to give it back to us.

The captain also said the man is new to the job and perhaps overzealous. He is also an umpire.

I talked the Captain's arm off, as I always do when I have imbibed caffeine.  I did tell him how nice the Newport K-9 officer has always been to my children, who adore K-9 dog officers.

I hope I convinced the captain that I am not vindictive or mean, that I was scared and upset.  I think so.  He did tell me several things that could help Mandy become a police officer if she still wants to.

I am still too frightened (whether it is warrented or not) to go onto Monmouth street.  I assume that will fade in time.

Andi!!!! Kas cannot go around breast-feeding every man she meets!!!! Harhar. I am so glad the captain called you and am glad that the department's radar is up...... and I hope that you told him that the man's crazy relatives were harassing and threatening you as well. This is a very good thing and I feel much more sure that this rogue parking attendent will not feel the leeway to come anywhere near you again. This was a big piece of good news Kas. xoxoxox, judi
